My hair trial was an updo, the day of my shower. Everyone loved it, except me. It was really pretty, it just wasn’t me and I wasn’t comfortable. I made faces in every single picture. My hair dresser did my hair so when I went in for an appointment a few weeks later I told her I wanted it down. I didn’t do a trial. We got married in Chicago right in the lake – I also had wind concerns. Luckily, there was no wind. If there was I would have dealt with it. I was WAY more comfortable with my hair down. I’m SO glad I did the trial and realized I hated the updo.

its important for you to like the way you look and feel comfortable with how you look.

socalbride2017 :  I really like the back of your hair but I would change the front. I would not be keen on keeping it down or half down because I agree that the wind and the summer heat will get to you and instead of focusing on your vows, you’ll have sweat on your neck and hair sticking to your face.

Maybe instead of doing the braid, have the hair dresser keep it more voluminous in the front and swide swept OR keep the braid but have it very loose instead of tight, I think it’ll make a lot of difference in how you look in the front.

You look great with an updo. That said you have to feel like you, so I second what PP said about trying a half-up, half-down do. And post pictures! 🙂

I think it looks beautiful I really love it, and if the wind is bad, your hair wont be affected, I had an outdoor wedding with my hair half up and I did have to recurl/ touch up and there was only a little wind!

Would you share a picture of your dress? I always feel like looking at the dress helps to decide if you should have an updo or not!

It is definitely worth thinking about the time of year and potential wind.  Our wedding day was VERY windy and my updo stayed in place because it was very solid.  If it was half up, half down, or down, I would have been very disappointed because it would have flown all over the place.  If you are having any part of your wedding day outside, even just for pictures, I would consider sticking with an updo but changing the style since you don’t like this one very much.

socalbride2017 :  I totally get it!!!!! My hair dresser told me if you don’t wear your hair up ever then don’t do it on your wedding day… I think the half up and half down would be good for you as long as they pin down your hair in place it the wind shouldn’t mess up your hair style you will be fine… Theres nothing wrong with trying it! Keep us posted!

socalbride2017 :  Wow I personally LOVE the updo with your dress, but I think you try half up half down and see if you love that, you want to be 100% in love with how you look that day, if you dont you wont like any of your pictures, you see it all the time on the bee!

It’s important to have your hair however you feel most comfortable with on your wedding day but one negative I found with having a some up some down hair style was that my curls dropped out by the time we had our first dance

socalbride2017 :  I would absolutely have another trial if you didn’t feel beautiful!  I had the same problem – first trial was a variety of updos.  They were all beautiful, but I didn’t feel like myself.  Ultimately, I had a second trial with my hair almost completely down and curled and felt amazing!  It was VERY windy our wedding day and my long hair moved around a good bit, but it definitely isn’t noticeable in pictures (my cathedral veill, however, is another story).

Side note, I love your make up – I hope that was part of the trial. On point!

Im not a fan, and never have been, of these flat in the front up dos, they are so matronly to me. Your hair is gorgeous, a half up do is so feminine and pretty and you have the hair for it. If the wind gets it, you can always recurl, brush, smooth- bring some smoothing gel/serum and a curler for touch ups.

I think your updo looks beautiful. But if your not happy you should go get another trial to see if the do will work out.
