In a bit of a venting mood right now as I am not impressed with the bridal salon I ordered my dress from…
We ordered it on May 14. The saleswoman told us that it would take 6 months TOPS to get the dress in and we shouldn’t worry one bit about it being ready for my Dec 3rd wedding.
I went into the shop with my Maid/Matron of Honor at the beginning of August to see if they can tell me how much longer and possibly where it is. The girl tells me its not in yet (obviously) and they’ll call me as soon as it comes in. She couldn’t tell me where it was but did say it should be in by the next month. I asked how long alterations would take if it did come in later and she said it shouldn’t take long as it’s the slower season and there won’t be grad/prom dresses amongst the bridal’s.
It’s now Oct 12th and still no call from the shop. My Mum called on Friday too see where it is. The woman she talked to told her that she wouldn’t be able to find out where the dress is because it’s the long weekend, without even asking for the bride’s name. Um, ok? I guess their system is taking an extra long weekend? I have no clue how bridal shop’s systems work, but I would think, as its 2011, there would be a way of looking up where it was the day before or the week(s) before? The woman then proceeded to tell my Mum that they will call as soon as the dress comes in. Yes, we know that! But we want to know WHERE it is! She then says that it takes 6-8 months for a dress to come in. 6 – 8 months??? Lady, do the math, would we have bought a dress if we knew it would have taken 8 months?? I don’t think so. “A rush could have been put on it”. So then why wasn’t one put on it?? You’re the business, you should know that if a dress is bought in May and the wedding is at the beginning of December that a rush SHOULD be put on the dress. We’re spending $1500 on this damn thing, I think it should be in when you said it is. My Dad is going into the shop today to find out what the deal is and possibly rip them a new asshole. (I work out of town so I’m not able to go in)
On top of everything, the Maid/Matron of Honor and Best Woman dresses were both too big. Maid/Matron of Honor close to a size too big and the Best Woman AT LEAST 2 sizes too big. Neither are being altered at the shop. We’ve decided that we’re not altering my dress at the shop either since we don’t want to give them anymore business or anymore of our money.
This might be a bit early as the dress could still come in any day now and it SHOULD be okay, but none of us are happy about how they’re going about the situation. One of my Mum’s friend’s even suggested going and buying a sample dress elsewhere as she’s heard nothing good about this shop… wish we would have known that earlier.
