So after months of searching and going in between having a dress custom made to just buying one I found THE dress, MAGGIE SOTTERO DIVINA! Mind you this is before I discovered wedding bee!
It has the perfect amount of softness on the bottom and the ruching works beautifully as I am considered a “plus-size” bride. It’s just what I was looking for. However, I’m having the skirt brought up to fit as more of a drop waist as it looks better on me. (Sorry no pixs, I tried on something similar at AA so I know it fits right but the divina sample didnt come in my size)
After paying for the dress I have been nothing but excited and confident! And I can’t wait til it gets here! But after reading some posts other bees posted about it being too “trendy” and how it’ll date you and how everyone has it, has made me second guess my decision.
Honestly, I can’t picture myself in any other dress. I don’t necessarily have dress regret but now I’m nervous. I’m nervous it won’t be as special. I’m nervous that someone will see me in it and go oh there’s that dress again! I guess I’m just buying into the negative/down remarks other bees have posted. I know I shouldn’t, but I think I just need a little reassurance.
I mean we are all entitled to an opinion, and I’m sure if I didn’t know about Wedding Bee I wouldn’t feel this way at all. I don’t know, I’m just venting a little. I like these boards so much because everyone is so supportive and positive. And for the most part everyone is, but I think it should stay that way even if a particular dress/style isn’t your cup of tea. Blech I’m rambling. Anyhoot! I’m positive my fears will go away the second I put my dress on. So…just a thought!

Please don’t let anyone second guess your dress!! It’s a gorgeous dress!
We all like and dislike different things. If the dress works for you, then it’s perfect for you.

I wouldn’t worry about it so much. Unless all your wedding guests are recently wed or soon-to-be wed, there’s a good chance none of them have researched wedding dresses lately. You’ll be beautiful! Rock it!

You picked a dress you LOVE so don’t let anyone get you down. No one but a wedding designer will go “oh that is so 2012″ they will just say ” wow look at that beautiful bride”

Who cares what other people think??? You are the one wearing it down the aisle. If it makes you feel confident and special, then it is your dress 🙂

I wouldn’t let a discussion here sway your opinion on the dress. What’s important is how you feel on your wedding day, and if the dress makes you feel like a million bucks, wear it!

I completely understand where you are coming from. But you shouldn’t let anyone determine what kind of dress is perfect for you. If you feel amazing that dress and you think it’s beautiful, then that is all that matters.

Try not to worry about it so much. Adorae was “that” dress before Divina, and yet I’ve never seen it in real life. You’re frequenting a wedding website, so of course you see it lots on here and that can skew your opinions. It’s a gorgeous dress!

Um, do you smile constantly when you think of it? do you never want to take it off when you put it on?
then dont worry about what anyone else says or thinks. if it’s trendy-it’s a mark of the time, how many of us look back at our parents photos and say wow, that dress is beautiful, I want to wear it now-no one… ok, maybe a handful, but for the most party, no, its crazy to just say it’s trendy and leave it at that. no one else will have your dress w/your veil and your boquet, so I would just let those comments fall aside.
This is your one day to shine, your one day to wear a dress like that-really, so if it’s what you want and what you love, let it roll off, every single bee is different and what is right or wrong for one bee, is completely different for another bee, so just dont let it get to your head. Its YOUR DAY … Your Dress! 🙂 I love this dress. it’s beautiful.

Don’t worry! The odds of the people that attend the wedding recognizing it as a popular dress are slim to none. The ONLY people who might be like…’is that Divina?!’ are soon to be brides that are actively looking at dresses. I bet that is a very tiny percentage of your wedding! It is one of the most beautiful dresses ever so I wouldn’t worry one bit.
