Yes. It’s a June wedding and although I really happy with an inside church wedding I really wanted an outside reception venue or at least a reception venue with a beautiful courtyard. I’ve already paid off my reception venue except the insurance and security guards. I’m not very happy, but it cost a lot less. I mean you just have to be happy with what you got. Unless you win the lottery or something. I mean if that happened to me I would certainly change venues…

Yup.. budget made us move our wedding, and not just a few blocks, a few dozen miles.  Our wedding is close to our house, and our reception is close to my mom’s.  We have family and friends coming from both places, so it ended up being a compromise, but it is NOT the place that I would have selected given a bigger budget…

YES…I wanted something very modern, very different, and Fiance (along with parents and future in laws) “out-voted” me and we got a traditional boring hall.  Wasn’t the cost factor, since the place I wanted was cheaper, but I hate the way it looks!!

Well I will say that I’m pretty happy about the place we ended up with (although we still spent more than we wanted to). But– if we had more money we wouldn’t be getting married there. I had a really good idea of where I wanted to be married but it was not even close to budget friendly so it got nixed immediately.

I’m in the same boat – we’re  having our reception in a social hall (my parents’ reception was there in ’68 and my sister’s was there in ’99) and the hall is fine if basic but it’s the surrounding area that’s the big problem for me…it was built in a pretty open space back in ’67 (from what I’m told) but it has since and for most of my life, been in an industrial estate.  Luckily there are green areas and trees around the hall  but all the neighboring buildings are low, industrial, commercial buildings.  Not scenic. Not pretty.  Kinda wish I could cover the windows of the bus for our guests and build a little tunnel for them to walk through so they don’t see the outside area except for the field at the side…however I cannot do that…  It bothers me but not enough to get all worked up.  Our wedding is in about 2 weeks and if I win the lotto in the meantime, there will definitely be a change in venue!!!  :0)

Yeah I know how you feel. I’m having second thoughts about our place because it is a little small on the inside and that does bother me a little. But it’s within our budget and we already put down a deposit so we’ll make it work.

I like my venue because it is pretty, but it is very far for my side of the family to travel like 2 hours. If we are not on the budget, we would have pick a better place.

Yep on both our ceremony site and reception site.  We did the best we could with what we had and tried to turn it into what we wanted.  After the wedding it hasn’t crossed my mind much.

It’s about your marriage and having fun at the reception, not what type of building you are in 🙂
