i was at a wedding where the bride and groom put a nice piece of stationary and a pen and envelope on the table. the table were numbered 1-17. the people at each table were to write anything they wanted to the bride and groom(like advice and well wishes) for the future. the bride and groom then had everyone be sure to seal the envelopes byt the end of the night and leave them on the table. they vowed to keep them and read one letter a year..the one from table 1 on anniversary 1. 2nd anniversary read table number two and so on.. so do you think this is a dumb idea? it would cost next to nothing but will people write things on them or spill drinks on them? i know my table wrote stuff, who knows about the others. thanks

I think it’s a good idea… just not completely thought out.
I would have a place to have them returned for sure, and have someone designated to pick them up (for the ones that just didn’t make it that far)
I think you could also have them displayed on a board like this… with the # facing out… everyone could pass by and see and think “ooooooo I wonder what table xx said?..”
colors and style to match your theme of course…

I think it’s a lovely idea. Would you do this instead of, or in addition to a guestbook? I think guests would appreciate being able to write down their well-wishes right from their table.

I definitely 2nd the “at the table” that’s how we did our guestbook pages.
We did also have bowls for them to be returned on the tables as well (vinyl record platters).. This way they were out of the way so as not to get messed up and we managed to get the ALL done AND returned! =)

I think its a great idea!! I would love to do that, but I wouldn’t have the discipline to read only one a year.
