I just had to share this site because Darling Husband and I found out we had more than $100 in unclaimed tax refunds and interest payments!
I think it’s best for those of us who have moved a few times. I guess banks are required to send your payments to the state government if they can’t find you.
All you do is go to your state treasurer’s website and enter in your name. They will let you know if you are owed payment. There’s a process to claim it from your state government.
Best of luck!

@AlwaysSunny: Wow, that’s cool! We didn’t find anything, but thanks for sharing! Thought I’d bump it in case anyone else wanted to try. 🙂

I reclaimed my “lost” money earlier this year!
I think my sister had like $10, and I had like $50!

So does it also tell u that u owe some? Sorta like how progressive’s little thingy plugs into ur car and is supposed to save u money on insurance but actually only proves ur a risky driver and makes ur rates go up?

So I don’t have any unclaimed money but I looked up my father who passed away almost 14 years ago.
Its rs making me feel weird, like there’s a piece of him out there that I’ve been unaware of. Waiting for my mother to get me his SSN to claim it if I can. I believe I’m the trustee but since I was only 14 when he passed I may not be. I don’t have much left from him since he and my mother were not together and not civil With each other years before his death.
thank you for posting this

@BeeG35: I did the progressive snapshot. I actually saved over 10% on my insurance in just the first two months. It doesn’t make your rates go up, you just won’t get a discount if you get negative reports. The only think if really reports is your number of hard braKes which for me driving on the city is impossible to avoid sometimes and the hours you drive. Some hours are considered “prime accident hours” which I believe are very late at night and very early dawn, not hours I would be driving but I assume there would be drunk drivers during those hours? I believe it also recorda your speed up, slow downs. I’m overall a very safe driver though.

@AlwaysSunny: The state of CO has their unclaimed money fund. When I checked it turned out that I had almost $400! It also pays to check back a few times because a year ago another $50 in my name had turned up.

Thanks for posting this! I didn’t have anything but I searched FI’s name and he has $80 some odd dollars out there from 2009! Which doesn’t surprise me at all since he’s terrible with keeping track of things.

@Kate0558: I think some states require you to create an account before searching their websites.
