My fiance had a great experience with Brilliant Earth when he ordered my lab diamond from them last year, but maybe we just got lucky? I did notice that diamonds disappear from their website very quickly as they get purchased, but the webpage should be updated to reflect that the diamond is no longer available. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time!

I had a great experience with BE, but have resd something similar to yours online at least once somewhere. What jellybellynelly said, the diamond can be sold elsewhere/to someone else and they don’t seem to know until later. And they don’t inform customers in a timely manner. It’s a hugely flawed system. While I personally liked BE, I would move on if I were you. This would absolutely sour my perspective and with such an important purchase, you want to be treated like a priority by the retailer.

mangotobe :  I just checked them out! I’ve actually found contenders cheaper than BE. If they ship to Australia and my BE diamond falls through I’ll probably go with them. Thanks bee!

I haven’t read all of your responses but just wanted to let you know the same thing happened to me. I looked and looked and happened to find my dream diamond the week before we had a trip to Chicago planned to go to their showroom. They couldn’t hold the diamond that long so I was going to risk it but my husband surprised me and went ahead and bought it! I was so excited, only to get a call 5 days later (after some correspondence in between to change the shipping address to our jeweler) saying someone had purchased the diamond before us ? And that they were sending it to them instead. I was much more upset than I expected to be, it really hurt my feelings. We did end up buying from them anyway though. I went to the appointment at the showroom and fell in love with a lower color diamond so I actually ended up spending less. We also visited the showroom in DC and both of those in person meeting a went really well and so did all of our follow up needs after purchase.

mangotobe :  yeah being left in the dark wasn’t awesome. That experience sounds much better. I haven’t heard of that site but I will check them out! Congratulations by the way!
