markpepper:  It’s so beautiful! I absolutely do not think you need to go bigger, but if you decide you want to, I would suggest scaling down to an F instead of D color. The color difference will be practically imperceptible and will give quite a bit more money to put toward a larger size. Good luck with the proposal! Either way, she’s a lucky girl to have a guy who is so concerned with getting her the perfect ring.

The ring is gorgeous and I’m sure when it’s on her hand it’ll look bigger than it does on yours. Good luck with your proposal!

The ring is beautiful! I would be so happy in her shoes. Sounds like you have a wonderful proposal plan. Personally, I don’t think I would want anything bigger. congrats!

I think the ring is very beautiful but you should be (and you do appear to be!) open to the idea of her swapping it for something more to her taste. I think it’s lovely that you are surprising her so completely but the downside is you get no input from her regarding what she might want in an engagement ring. I saw a lot of beautiful rings when I got engaged but I discovered that I had very specific taste and since it was going to be on my hand forever it had to be perfect. Pear cut diamonds are not to everyones taste – same goes for rounds, ovals, cushions etc. Everyone is different! So I say propose with this gorgeous ring but then let her know the important thing was the surprise and the proposal itself and that if she doesn’t like pears/pave settings/whatever then she can pick something else out 🙂
