I just wanted to say I’m in the same situation….but finally I just bit the bullet and ordered a dress. I figure I can always alter it down (and its a corset back) for whatever weight I lose by the wedding.

You look amazing 🙂 How long ago did you have surgery? and which one??

@MissSunshine: that dress is awesome on you!

Personal question. I don’t know if you have any experience with dress shoping yet, but do you know if there are any designers that are able to acomodate your height? I have a friend who is 6′.1″ and she’s scared to go shopping because I’m 5’7″ and I found many dresses I tried on were too short. They would add extra length, but only 3 inches (so I still had to wear reasonable shoes). Some designers like Pronovias/St. Patrick had a good extra 4 inches.

Just wondering if you had any advice I can pass along?

@kermie: I’m 6’1″ and I have found that Davids Bridal dresses are always way too short on me BUT the other salons I’ve gone too have been plenty long and they always tell me I’m lucky because I probably wont need a hem with a pair of heels. My problem is I don’t do heels so I will probably need one. Your friend shouldn’t be scared long dresses are out there!

@kermie: she shouldn’t have a problem. My dress is from a jasmine. The monly thing is is that some makers like sattero & midgely, maggie sattero and mori lee have dresses that dont come with extra length or hallow to hem. I would just have her ask that before she tries on a dress and loves it. I tried on a sattero & migdley dress and it was short in a smaller size and they tried to tell me that it should be long enough in my size, but i didn’t want to risk that. I also loved a mori lee dress and the same thing, but i tried on a bigger size, like 4 sizes bigger, and it was long enough, so sometimes when you try on dresses it is hard to tell how long it will be when it is your size. Some mori lee dressesdo come in different lengths though, this one didn’t.

As the previous poster said DB, don’t waste her time. The consultant asked me after trying on a few dresses if I wanted a short dress……no I’m getting married in a catholic church. that would have gone over well.
