We didn’t have a card box.  The envelopes sat on the tables with the gifts at the reception.  If you don’t feel comfortable with things sitting out, maybe you should have someone take things to your car or room throughout the night?

We are rigging up a special card holder but if we don’t get it secured how we want we’ll designate someone to collect the cards from it. We could actually have them brought home since the venue is really close to the house.

We had my aunt just go and grab them, and put them in the locked office the venue let us use.

I think that you should be okay as long as everything is in the room and away from the doors in or out.  Guests will notice if people start taking things off the table.

The idea about the card box is to avoid just leaving envelopes lying around…

We’re using a small card basket. Our caterers are moving our gifts, including cards, into a secure storage room after the ceremony.
