Hi Everyone I am new here, and looking for honest opinions.
I have been very inspired by posts of Brides doing their wedding their own way so it relfects their individual styles and inerests.
My partner and I are both in the Fire Brigade, we met in the brigade over 6 years ago. We learnt respect for each other on the fire ground, and have a bond that goes as deep that we can just look at each other and know what is needed. We also have a Fire Brigade Toddler, lol, or so I call her.
I want our wedding to be a celebration of our lives and what brings us together. I am thinking of us getting married in our Structure Fire Uniforms (which are Lime) and our bridal party (also in the brigade) will wear Bush Uniforms which are an orange yellow. I than thought of pairing my uniform with a pair of bright red heels. Then after the ceremony I want to get changed into an awesome little party dress (and my red heels) and dance the night away. I thought it would be awesome because so much of our life has grown through the brigade, and this feels like a natural extension of that.
I feel really excited about this, and thought the dress I change into could be a cool cirtus green colour to mimic the uniform. But am still working up the nerve to make the decision of not getting married look glamerous and feminine.
What do you inspirational people think?

I think that’s a great idea! Obviously, the fire brigade is central to the relationship you have with your FH. That’s the wonderful thing about weddings — it’s your’s and you can do whatever you want. I would probably go and just try on a few wedding gowns, just to make absolutely sure that’s what you want to do. If you try some on and still think uniforms are the best way to go, then do it!

What a great idea! I personally hate the way I look in white, and my mother was married in a pink dress, so I’m undecided on what I’ll do for my wedding. I think you’ll be glamourous and feminine in your uniform and party dress. You can still go out and get your hair and makeup done, maybe even use some sort of pretty hair accessory to glam up the uniform, that would take it into more of a high fashion area, especially with the red heels!

I say, if it’s what you want to do, totally go for it! I agree with Miss CL, though, at least go try some wedding dresses on, just to make sure you won’t miss them! But definitely do your wedding YOUR way. Congrats!

When I read your post I was smiling the whole time because I absolutely love the idea and by the way you wrote it you can tell that YOU absolutely love the idea!!!!!
I say YES YES YES! It sounds like it would be beautiful and as honeybird said you can still get all glamorized with your hair and make-up and you will get to be feminine in your lime green party dress!
I think the wedding will really reflect you as a couple and I think it would be wonderful!

it sounds like an excellent idea.. it’s your day and as long as the both of you are happy, the rest doesn’t matter. have you asked your partner if it matters that you’re not wearing white? some people have a surprisingly strong opinion about things like that.

I think this sounds amazing, and the combination of the citrus green dress and the hot red shoes will really pop!
