That is really disrespectful, and quite frankly, if you guys are really not on the same page about this kind of stuff — if he knows you want to get married but isn’t sure he does, if he knows you want a wedding and a proposal — and he still makes it a big, nasty joke?  I’d think really long and hard about what kind of long-term outcome I want here.  Personally, I’d be getting my walking papers in order.  Not over the joke bottle of schnapps, but because it was so fundamentally disrespectful to you.  He obviously knew what you were hoping for and thought it was funny to jerk your chain over your future instead of communicating meaningfully with you.  But I don’t do practical jokes, and that might just be me.

At the least, you need to have a conversation with this man about your timetable and what you want out of your relationship, and if he’s not on the same page, you need to ask yourself just how much longer you’re willing to wait for him to get there.  And you need to make it clear that this joke was not funny, not okay, and if he does something similiar in the future, you’re done.

Dude, that totally blows.

Take a shot of ‘Schlag and start browsing Craigslist for a new apartment (for YOURSELF). Don’t break up, just move out. Then see.

Yikes…this sucks.  I hope that after he saw how hurt you were he could admit that it was a misguided idea, otherwise I’d have serious concerns about this person.

But I’m sure it was just a practical joke gone bad.  Sometimes men and women just speak a different language.

@mardzhona:  were you happy? Lol

my fiancé surprised me with a necklace. I thought he was just getting me boots, because we weren’t supposed to be spending a lot, but he was like try on your boots – and there was a small wrapped box in there – and I got all excited because I totally knew jewelry was in there!
