So we are not “engaged” yet, but we have picked out and bought my diamond and he is in the process of designing it and having it made now. I would wait until we are officially engaged but we want to get married in June 2014 and by the time he proposes less venues will have dates open. So today we went and looked at a venue I loved and booked it since they had our date next year. Is this totally crazy?

@MischiefManaged22: I’m almost in the same situation, except i don’t know about a ring. SO told me we can start planning for a wedding next late June/early July, and we’ve been looking into venues (destination). I think we’ve narrowed it down to top 2. We also have a guestlist 🙂

I wish i had started looking earlier. My fiancee and i had been talking about getting married in the fall of 2013 for several months before he proposed…which he did in january of 2013…by then most of the venues were very picked over and my options were waiting until 2014 or making a quIck decision since i will be 37 when we marry i went with the quick decision). I also had to jam in looking for wedding dresses, etc…

@MischiefManaged22: I haven’t done anything like this but if you and your soon to be Fiance are in agreement then that is all that matters. Seems a shame to miss out on your dream venue when you have the date set, just because you are waiting for the ring.

We booked our venue in April, we’re announcing our engagement this Christmas. It was the only time we were going to be down there. When we loved it and our preferred date was open, we put the money down on it.
I know a lot of people will say not to do it, but I think that’s more for rogue planning without your Fiance – if your guy is on board, book and plan away. It will make things so much easier. Seriously it is a huge weight off my shoulders. We are going to book the photographer and band this summer as well. We have loved looking at things and taking our time with no imput or pressure from anyone else.
