- Wedding: December 1969
So I’m not your traditional bride. I was a tomboy, turned girly-girl and now a "Refuse to admit it suburban mom".
When my Fiance first asked, I was like, let’s do it on an island in the Caribbean (Barbados-both our parents are from there) with just our parents and siblings. He felt like we’d be leaving some people out. We finally are at a place where I compromised and we are planning it for Montreal, Canada. I have seen too many of my girlfriends suffer with their bridesmaids, so I decided I didn’t want any. I have one of my closest guy friends, who I asked and I feel he’d be the most reliable, enjoy the wedding dress shopping and remain enthusiastic throughout the planning. <p class="MsoNormal">The problem, bith my Fiance and I are stalling: partly due to 0$ savings budget (we bought a home 2 yrs ago), partly no great reception places (I fell in love with one place, the Olympic stadium, but again, no budget. I also refuse to settle on any location) and lastly, we have no clue where to begin. I know this is supposed to be the happiest day of my life, but I do not want to be consumed by the stress of planning this event. I also do agree about paying someone else to do the planning for us either, we’re smart, organized people. However, I think it’s just that I am fearful of this “event” getting out of control. My Fiance has big ideas and big dreams of this day turning into a blow-out party. I’d much rather do our ceremony and reception at the same location.
If anyone out there knows of a ceremony/reception site in Montreal, West Island or the South Shore that we can have catered, serve our own alcohol and costs less than $1000, please let me know.
