- Wedding: June 2013
We are still over a year away from our wedding date (June 15, 2013!) but I’m what you might call….SUPER TYPE A. I thought I’d share the journey that my amazing fiancee and I have taken since our engagement. Hope you enjoy stalking me as much as I enjoy stalking all of you! PS – I’m quite long winded. Sorry for all the writing 🙂
Our Engagement. He took me out to a fantastic sushi dinner on December 16. Little did I know that my family knew what was happening. After dinner he handed me his iPad and asked me to watch this video. He thought I would cry, but instead I laughed at how silly we are. I turned around after the last image on the video, and there in the parking lot he was kneeling down with the ring and asked me to be his wife.
The Venue. We knew right away what our two “biggies” were for our wedding. The place and the photographer. Everything else could wait a little while. I originally was thinking a golf course, outdoor wedding, but once we stepped foot into The Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento, we were in love.
The Photographer. We decided it would be a good idea to hire a photographer that was familiar with the venue we chose, so we looked at all the recommendations from the hotel. We found her. Beth from True Love Photo. The second I saw her blog, I knew I was done searching. Then we met her, and life all made sense. She understood our desire to capture the moment and our hatred for posed photos. She laughed with us when we were stupid and that was it. We booked her immediately. If you live anywhere near Sacramento, seek this woman out.
The Bridesmaids. My girls. Oh, my lovely girls. I have the BEST friends a gal could ever ask for, and I knew immediately who would be with me on our wedding day. I also knew I had to ask them in a special way, I mean c’mon, these girls are my life. I wrote a silly speech, pasted it on to cards, write a personalized note on the inside and pretty-fied it up. This card was tied to a box which contained some tulle and a single white rose. I gave these to each girl personally (except the two mailed to my long distance gals) and got to be there while they each accepted.
The Dresses. Most of my girlfriends happened to be visiting one weekend post engagement, so we decided (for fun) to go check out some dresses. TheBill Levkoff line had just come in, and the gals liked this one. It fits our formal black and ivory wedding so well! We won’t be ordering this for many months (probably around December) but I’m happy we know the dress!
And then there’s my dress… My mom and I went to a store near my house (Sparkle Bridal Couture), ya know JUST FOR FUN. Too bad we fell in love. 🙂 This is the Robin Jillian “Charlize” that I fell in love with. After purchasing I went through some dress regret (bad cell phone pics didn’t do the dress justice) so I went back and snapped this shot. It was the first dress I ever put on, and the one we bought!
The Invitations. I know, I know, it’s WAY too early for invitations. But, oh well. 🙂 I loved these DIY invites by Brides from Michael’s. With their weekly 40% off coupon, plus my teacher discount, we’re picking up one box of these babies a week until we have enough!
Ahhh SHOES. Yesterday my (did I mention AMAZING) finacee and I went to the mall, and of course, I stopped to look at shoes. I had planned on wearing flats on our big day for comfort, but then I found these bad boys. SO comfortable, completely affordable ($60!), and I’m not taller than him with these on! I haven’t purchased them yet, but I’m itching to go back and buy them!
Ahhhhh, that felt great to tell you all about!!! I try so hard to not barf my wedding plans all over my friends and family, so instead I vomit it all here 🙂
Happy wedding planning fellow Bees!XOAmber
