- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
Seven months to go before we get married. How is everyone doing on their planning? For ladies just getting started, don’t feel too overwhelmed, seven months is plenty of time to plan a wedding.
We rented a beach house for our ceremony and reception. We paid the reservation fee and the balance isn’t due until 60 days prior to the wedding.
FH booked the photographer last month. We are getting four hours of coverage and 500 photos on a DVD with full reprint rights for $500. She also blogs her weddings so we can share some of the photos with friends and family through the Internet. She has only been in business for a year but she is building her business and her work is amazing!
I finalize the rentals on tables and chair today. I paid the reservation fee today to hold our date. The balance is due the day before the wedding.
My mom bought me a flower for my hair at JCPenney’s this past weekend. I still need to order my dress but I forgot to take my longline bra with me so my mom could do the measurements. I am ordering a gown from Dressilyme but I keep procreastinating because I want to lose more weight. I also need to figure out shoes but I can’t decide if I want flat sandals or platform sandals (I like the idea of a little height since I am only 5’2″.) I also need to purchase jewelry but I want to wait until I have the dress.
FH needs to order his suit but he wants to wait until June because he also wants to lose more weight. I told him we can always have it tailored again smaller if he loses more weight before the wedding but he is determined to drop another 20 pounds.
We received quotes on catering but ultimately decided to order trays of BBQ by the pound because it’s less than half the price of catering. I still need to get chaffing dish kits at the Party Store but I am waiting for a sale and/or coupon (they have a bunch of each in October for Halloween.)
My mom and stepdad officially offerred to pay for the booze. They have access to duty free liquor on the local Navy base. I just need to get them a shopping list a month before the wedding. I also need to decide whether we want a half keg or figure out coolers and ice for the beer. Most of our friends drink wine or liquor so bottles/cans seem to be a better option.
Cake is going to be ordered from Publix but since we are ordering a specialty cake and cupcakes instead of a “wedding” cake, we are waiting to order until the week before the wedding. I once ordered a cake over a month in advance and they lost my ticket (i.e. no fresh cake for me) so I am hesitant to order it too far in advance.
I am planning to order tablecloths and paper products with my next paycheck. Finally decided on bermuda blue since the turquiose looks a bit green and I really want the blue to contrast with the lime green accents. I am going to roll the silverware in the napkins and tie them off with ribbon so guests can just grab a setup while at the buffet. I even have a nice basket to stack the setups in for the buffet.
Flowers are being ordered from Sam’s so I have to wait until October to order so I know what is in season. We are deciding between green and white hydrangea. I really prefer green but it’s out of stock at the moment. I hope it is in stock in October/November! I already have the metal pails to arrange them in for the centerpieces. I also have the seashells and starfish to decorate around the centerpieces.
I need to order his wedding band. This may be unpopular but I picked out and purchased the wedding band from my first set with my own money. My ex husband had nothing to do with it other than putting it on my hand at a ceremony he later said was a lie. I am going to have the band unsoldered from my old engagement ring, do some voodoo exorcism on the wedding band, and use it for our wedding. It’s too pretty and it matches my current engagement ring perfectly. Why waste an $800 band that I can only pawn for $50?
Music is going to be by Spotify. We already have a list but we are waiting until closer to the wedding to try out the service. I still need to order speakers to set up for the music. They’re in my Amazon shopping cart with free shipping, I just need to pull the trigger and order them.
I know this was quite frenetic but it feels good to see how much I have actually planned out.
