  • Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL

Wedding Date: November 2, 2013

Engagement Length:  23 months (to the day)

Colors: turquoise and lime green

Theme: casual beach BBQ

Wedding Party(#s): 1 Matron of Honor, 2 bridesmaids; 1 Best Man, 2 groomsmen (1 groomsman will also be the officiant)

Ceremony (where, time): Private Beach House, St. Augustine Beach, FL, at 5pm

Reception (where, time): Same place at 6pm

Dress Style: Alfred Angelo 2171 – strapless chiffon (having replica made by dressilyme.com)

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro hair absolutely, I am terrible at doing hair.  Makeup I can probably DIY and do a good job, I just need to practice smokey eyes a bit more.

Honeymoon Location: London, Paris, and Amsterdam for two weeks.

Flowers: Real for bouquets.  May use fake hydrangea for the centerpieces so they can be made ahead of time.

Processional Song: haven’t decided yet

First Dance Song: FH requests it be a Weezer song, specifically “If you’re wondering..”

Centerpieces: Simple and casual.  Turquoise table cloths with lime green runners.  White planters with white hydrangeas and greenery surrounded by tealights with an orange sugar starfish and a sprinkling of white seashells.

Food/Menu: We are doing a BBQ buffet with pulled pork, brisket, and chicken, maybe ribs.

Cake Flavour: Three round cakes: red velvet, raspberry vanilla, and latte dream

Favours: We are ordering personalized shot glasses for our partying guests to use later in the evening.  We may order something else but I am hesitant to buy something that will instantly become trash and I am not a fan of food favors.

DJ/Band/Ipod: Spotify

Photography/Videography:Photography only; not a fan of the video

Bachelorette (when/what):  No bachelorette.  I am an adult and I find it silly to go out and act like a fool in front of other people just because you are getting married.  No thanks.  Might have a nice evening out with a few friends but no bachelorette sashes or Woo’s!

DIY?: Anything that requires DIY will receive heavy scrutiny regarding whether we actually need it and whether it fits into our rather tight budget.  I am DIYing the centerpieces but I also did that for my first wedding and everyone was impressed because they were simple and classic (glass vases filled with real black magic roses and red berries, surrounded by tealights and rose petals.)  I am not very good at DIY so I avoid DIY as much as possible.

  • Wedding: November 2013

Wedding Date: November 30, 2013

Engagement Length: 1 year, 13 days.

Colors: Turquoise/teal, purple and grey.

Theme: stuff we like. Modern-ish I guess.

Wedding Party(#s): Since we’re both women, we’re calling our “bridal parties” our “best people”. I have two of my siblings and my best friend, and my fiancée has her brother and her best friend.

Ceremony (where, time): A park area surrounded by pine trees at 4.30pm

Reception (where, time): a nearby function centre at 6pm

Dress Style: Dolly Couture’s Avila Bay in champagne, with three quarter lace sleeves.

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro but I haven’t organised it yet.

Honeymoon Location: Still in planning, but I think we’ll stay in Aus and head north to the Gold Coast. My fiancée loves the beach and we’re both suckers for amusement parks.

Flowers: Probably minimal, just a bouquet for me and a small arrangement on each table. Probably those purple and blue orchids that seem to be super popular at the moment. I really don’t want any white flowers.

Processional Song: Somebody Loved, performed by my fiancée’s brother and best friend.

First Dance Song: Not sure if we’re doing a first dance, but if we do we’ll probably go with Shelter by Ray LaMontagne.

Centerpieces: probably a strand of orchids submerged in water in cylindrical glass vases. My fiancée wants to do a Manzanita on each table but I don’t know how that will look. We’ve also seen some pretty cool stuff on Pinterest with brightly painted sticks.

Food/Menu: Menu hasn’t been finalised yet, but it’s included with our reception venue and the choices sound amazing. We decide on two choices for each of the three courses and then the two choices are served alternating around each table.

Cake Flavour: TBD. I’m coeliac so I don’t know if we’ll choose a gluten-free cake or just get me a little symbolic cupcake.

Favours: purple and teal personalised M&Ms in little round tins, secured with ribbon and a personalised sticker with our initials and wedding date.

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ, included with the reception venue.

Photography/Videography: just photography. We have videographers in the family so one of them will set up a video camera during the ceremony and reception and my fiancée can edit it together herself later.

Bachelorette (when/what): Not sure if I’ll be doing anything like that. We’ll probably just have separate get-togethers with our friends. My best friend alluded to a wine and cheese party for me (since I

DIY?: My fiancée is a graphic designer and works for a printing company so we’re doing the invites and table numbers ourselves.

You guys all sound much more organised than me!
