Holy moly!!! That’s awesome! I am also a nut with cleaning my rings…I don’t wear them unless I’m out of the house, and I soak them all the time in hot hot water with Windex or ammonia. I want this now!!! What cleaner goes in it…I wish it wasn’t $100 that I don’t feel like spending now haha

Holy crap! You diamond was so dirty that it almost looks like a cz! But of course once you steam cleaned it, it’s a beautiful diamond again 🙂 so it worked that well without any scrubbing involved? This would be great for me because I’m a compulsive ring cleaner too. Almost every morning between fixing both mine and my daughters hair, I get a thick coating of hairspray on my stone that requires a lot of scrubbing to get it off.

I was always worried about too much steam cleaning. I have used the soft foaming soap and baby tooth brush method. I also have a jar of chemical cleaning to dip it in, brush off and rinse.

Michelleac:  wow! What a difference! Maybe I should bite the bullet and buy a steam cleaner too. I have an ultrasonic, but I sometimes clean my ring and then hold it with tweezers under my tassimo for the steam/hot water, it’s insane how insanely clean my ring is after.

Michelleac:   How cool! I have an ultrasonic but this seems like just the sort of thing to use alternately. Thanks!

Steam cleaning can be great for diamonds and gemstones, not so much for the metal settings (which can temporarily soften with the heat.) But if you’re careful, it’s a great way to cut through the gunk!
