I take those gummies and noticed when I bought them they do not have iron. Somebody on here on a recent thread (maybe a few months back) mentioned the reason. I now forget what it was, but it had to do with not taking iron at the same time as another vitamin (in order for it to be properly absorbed) so therefore, one should take iron supplements at a different time of day than the prenatals. Also, ibuprofren can cause many problems with ttc. Not only can it delay ovulation, I’ve read in many studies that lessens the chances of getting pregnant and ups the chances of miscarriage. Thanks for posting this info for others to read!

I never knew that NSAID pain relievers could delay ovulation!!! I’m sure that could be causing problems for a lot of people TTC!! I also didn’t know there is a correlation between Iron and fertility! Good to know about the gummy prenatals, I almost bought those but ended up with Women’s One a Day Prenatal with DHA.

@Jenn23: I think they contain calcium? And when you take calcium and iron at the same time they cancel each other out and your body receives nothing.

@jholler25: Interesting. I’ll have to do a search on the iron thing myself. I eat plenty of iron right now in foods, so I think I’m ok. But I’ll definitely look into it, as I know iron is important. Glad you found different prenatals that you are happy with! I had to get the gummies because I had trouble swallowing big pills in the previous prenatals.

I was taking the VitaFusion gummies for a while but the farther along I got, the more they grossed me out. I don’t know. I just can’t handle their texture anymore. Blech. I got a prescription after that.

I knew when I purchased my Vitafusion gummies that they didn’t have iron in them. Over the course of taking them, I’ve made sure to have iron rich food. Oddly enough, on vacation, I ate In N’ Out burger three times, plenty of iron there! I’ve actually had a craving for red meat lately on this cycle as well as orange juice and oranges. I may pick up an iron supplement since we’re officially TTC. With my Vitafusions, I take the prenatal and the calcium supplement. Only lately have I had an outward craving for red meat. We’ll see this week if it means a BFP.

ETA; I guess I’m going to officially freak myself out here. On vacation I took two Advil, drank, and had black tea all in and around ovulation. Yet, my boobs feel massive right now. I’m crampy and have been for some time. I can’t wait for Friday here. I really hope that I didn’t doom this month.

@jholler25: There was also just a study released that NSAIDS increase early miscarriages by as much as 50%

I had been taking Aleve for headaches/any aches or pains and have now switched to Tylenol- this is the first cycle since switching.  I’m just hoping our TTC difficulties were due to taking Aleve!

So, I just completely revamped my prenatals after an unsuccessful cycle. I’m now taking Rainbow Light once a day prenatal, two gummy calcium (because RL has a small percentage of it), and my Trader Joe’s fish oil capsule which has the recommended DHA as well as EPA amounts. I know that I definitely didn’t have enough iron in my system before, but didn’t realize that even Vitafusion’s prenatal with DHA was pretty low. So, I’m upping everything in hopes of a more successful chance this cycle.
