Six months before our wedding we decided it would be ok for me to be off BC for medical reasons. He was ok with me not being on anything a while before that, but I wanted to be closer to the wedding before. For the last six months of our engagement we took the NTNP approach. I tried charting for a while but then that combined with wedding planning and everything else I sort of fell off the charting bandwagon. I was secretly relieved that I was not pregnant for our wedding, but if I would have been, it would have been fine…If I had been too worried about it I would have stayed on BC until after.

I think if you both agree that now is the right time, go for it. I personally do not see anything wrong with being pregnant at your wedding, especially if you were going to start trying right after getting married anyway. If anything, this could be a good time to practice charting so that when you are ready to try, you already know how (although like I said, it was a little much for me to try to do that and keep my head on during wedding planning, haha).

Is there any reason you can’t get married a year earlier? Then you can have fun at your reception, have a fun, last child-free vacation (I have three relatives who were pregnant/had kids at their wedding, and they ALL told me they regret not having a great honeymoon!) and still have a baby by next April. It also gives you time to save back up what you’re spending on your honeymoon and wedding before taking on the costs of a child.

My Fiance and I moved up our wedding date by a year last month, and wanting a baby was definitely one of the reasons!

I was pregnant when we got engaged, but we knew we would have a long engagement so having a baby never got in the way of wedding planning. DD was just short of 3 years old when we got married and we started TTC right after the wedding. I love the fact that we could have our child as a part of our wedding day, but if we had been child-free the day would have been very different. Not better or worse, just different.
