I have no idea how many to use, but I think it sounds very pretty.

I love to put a bunch of baby’s breath in vase…as an accent, I hate it…but bunched together it is very striking.  I am sure the carnations will be gorgeous!

I love all carnation bouquets! They look so ruffly and elegant, even though I don’t really like carnations with other flowers. Could you ask your florist to show you what 40 carnations looks like? Not assembled into a bouquet formally, but just to get an idea of mass compared to you and your dress?

I think 40 sounds about right.  I actually have a similar question: I am having Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets of only calla lillies.  How many make a statement?  5 – 10?  My guess was 5, but maybe that is low.

It’s not tacky! What you want is perfect because it’s your dream!

As for 40 – I’m feeling that’s a pretty good sized set – I think it’s going to look awesome all put together!!!

40 will be a big bouquet for carnations, since they’re fluffier (i’m assuming we’re talking about full-size here, not mini?). to give you a sense of comparison, i did a bridal bouquet with 24 roses, 3 hydrangeas, and random viburnum (like 6 or so). the bouquet was definitely full. i think 40 carns will be fine!

I would suggest that you go to a crat store like Michael’s and go into the silk flower aisle and look for the carnations.  You can then put together 40 carnations and see how big they would look bunch up.  Im guessing that your bouquet would be about 8-9 inches wide.  Hope this helps!
