Quite a few things I have read was assume 75-80% of your guests will RSVP. Maybe assume even less if they have to travel. We are going to invite probably 150 but will expect maybe 90-100 as our families and friends will have to travel (we chose a central location since they are scattered in a few varying states)

penny1403 :  Since your list is already very small, I’m guessing it contains only close family and friends, so I would expect you’ll get a higher pecentage of Yes RSVPs that people with larger lists who might have had more extended family or casual friends on their guest lists.

Will 2 people RSVP no to get you down to 40? Probably. But don’t forget to count yourselves and the officiant (and possibly other vendors) in the headcount.

Typically you can count on about a 20% decline rate.

We invited 350, just under 300 showed up

We invited around 180 and 110 came, but 99% of our guest list was an 8+ hour drive away so we expected a higher decline rate than normal.

Meanwhile, I just threw an event (not a wedding) and invited 56 people and 63 people showed up.

I know lots of people who have had 100% attendance as well.  It just depends on the type of event (people will make more of an effort for weddings and rare celebrations), the ease of attending the event, and your relationship with them.   You should always be planning and budgeting for 100% attendance.

Our venue’s stated capacity was 140. We both have huge families, so we ended up inviting 138. We had 95 attend. It was the Sunday of a long weekend and about 1/2 of people had to travel a few hours.

Our guest list is at 600ish. 🤣 That’s the combination of both of us being in Greek life in college and a big catholic family. However we both have family that won’t travel to the event,  and it is on a major holiday weekend. We expect anywhere from 250-350. We shall see.
