@roxy821:  I think I have around 60 people on my guest list for my baby shower.  It is in the summer though, so I am sure a good amount won’t be able to come.  That is an awesome offer from your mom.  Would you be able to do both maybe?  Have just a small shower with a few close friends and family to get the experience?

@roxy821:  That honestly sounds like a lovely, ideal baby shower to me! I have a feeling my mom will totally blow out of proportion the number of family members she’s going to invite. Don’t worry about how many people will be there! Even if half of the amount of people come, that’s still 15 lovely ladies there to shower you with gifts! Sounds fantastic :o)

Sometimes I find the smaller, at-home showers to be a lot more fun than the larger ones.  We had to invite around 55 people, which did not include our female cousins because there are just too many of them and I didn’t want my parents spending a fortune for the shower.  I believe around 35-40 are coming.  It sounds like you want the shower so go for that.  People will get you items and you may have to fulfill some of your registry yourself, but its your first baby and if you really wwant the shower experience then go for it!

Most of the showers I’ve been to had around 20-30 people.  I did go to one where she was quite wealthy and married to “local celebrity” and had 75 people….it sucked.  We were spread out over 3 rooms.  Every time she opened a gift, her sister called out the name of the person so they could see her open it.

I think it’s great that your mom is so excited for your little one.  I’m overseas and IF I got pregnant the only people who would come are DH’s coworkers.  So guarantee my parents would buy everything I registered for.

I have 22 at one of them and 40 at the other but the bigger one will result in lame gifts because I don’t know these people very well and I doubt expect them to and I highly doubt they’ll get any of my big ticket items or modern items (they’re my mom & MIL’s friends).
