My first thought when I saw recliners is how difficult they would be to get out of if your have a sleeping baby in your arms, but baby stores do sell them. I am not a mom yet, but I think that it’s soothing for the baby to be able to rock them which is why most nursery chair do move. However, if you get sick then I wouldn’t recommend it since you need to be healthy in order to take care of the baby.

I’m prego and we bought a recliner because I have back problems pre-pregnancy and we knew I’d have some going into this.  Mine rocks slightly but I’m glad we got it because I’ve sat in it many a night now.  As for having the baby.  My 9mo old niece I usually rock her standing up swaying side to side because that’s how her mom would sit/stand and rock while pregnant.  Point being I think it will depend on the baby and what they are use to.  Plus they have the swings that rock them so you might register for one of those and avoid making yourself sick.

I bought this off craigslist & I love it!  I think it’s a better idea to buy a chair that you can use in the house later after the baby no longer needs a chair in he/she’s room.

forgot to add that I’ll be recovering in in white, so It will be able to match with our living room or bedroom after.  I found a cover at target for $80 bucks and got the chair and ottoman for $125.  I thought I got a pretty good deal, considering most sofa style gliders run from $300 and up.  This one does not glide though, but my first son didn’t like being rocked in the chair anyways.

@luvalways86:  That’s why we opted for the recliner.  That way we could use it in another room beside the nursery when we were done.
