It sounds very cute and unique!

My only word of caution would be if you paint it as a nursery (and this sounds very obviously like a nursery with the black spots, etc.) and you don’t get pregnant right away, it might be a source of pain or disappointment for you to look at it all the time.

Just FYI, you can find paint with no VOCs that should be safe to paint with during a pregnancy. We got ours at Sherwin Williams, but you can probably find it in the big box hardware stores.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

That would be my concern too.  I know too many people who have struggled to TTC.  I do think the idea sounds really cute though!

I would go ahead and do a white, black and red room but leave out the dalmation spots, banner, spotty comforter etc until after you stop using it as a guest room. It’s a bit juvenile atmosphere for company. You could use a white comforter with black scatter pillows.

You can always add the spots later- whether you paint them on, or use a self-adhering vinyl wall graphc.

I think you should paint the walls white, and then add the Dalmatian stuff through decoration.  Black is hard to paint over when your child outgrows the room, and it’s also very specific.  What if your child doesn’t like the movie?  What if he/she wants clouds?  If you do Dalmation decor, but like really subtly, that would be kind of awesome, and since it’s the guest room for now, it wouldn’t be too childish.

If you’re not willing to consider the suggestions of others then why even bother asking? Did you think everyone was going to be all “oh yes, definitely decorate your office/guest room/nursery of a future baby that is however many years down the road in a dalmation theme because it will look AWESOME”? ‘Cause I could have predicted the replies without even reading the PP’s.

It’s your house so paint the room however you want to but if you’re not willing to listen to critiques or take the sensible suggestions of your fellow members into question then maybe you shouldn’t post asking for opinions on things that you’re dead set on anyway.

I think you should paint it however you want, it’s your room…your decision!Even if you don’t plan to have a baby in there for a while, if you want to decorate it that way for the guest room, then you should do it.  It sounds like you guys already have your mind made up anyway lol Post pictures after bc I’m curious to see how it will look!

But I will say…everyone is stuck on the nursery bc your topic name is “Nursery Paint Design? What do you think?”
