It’s a glider… and there are still tons of rocking chairs.

    calliekalico2 :  That doesn’t make any sense, it’s not even a question.

People will put whatever furniture they personally prefer in a nursery.

    What is your confusion?

calliekalico2 :  I personally think the classic wooden rocking chairs are super uncomforable, and wouldn’t be very functional for nursing/rocking a tiny infant.  I see most people doing the glider/rocker, which is basically the same thing, just with padding.  Ours came with an ottoman that also glides, but I’m sure not all of them do.  For extra comfort (and a bit more money), I also see people doing more of a full-size recliner in their nurseries.  These options seem way more functional than a hard, small, wooden rocking chair to me.  Those are only good for nostalgia purposes in my opinion.

mine’s a glider and the ottomon glides too.  its very comfortable.  DS, 15 months, still sits on my lap and we read stories together sitting in it.

it will be used for a long time, we have another on the way.

i don’t quite understand what you are trying to say.  no one is required to have any particular piece of furniture.  if you don’t want a rocker or glider, don’t get one.

It’s a glider, and super comfortable. We had a glider and a rocker. The glider was better in my opinon.

Yep we have a nice upholstered one with an ottoman. Super comfortable.

Sorry not having a hard ass piece of wood to sit on at 2 am displeases you?

calliekalico2 :  it’s a glider. It glides back and forth and is much easier on your calf muscles than a rocking chair

Those recliner-looking chairs are gliders.  It’s like an improved, more comfortable rocking chair.

i have my great grandmothers wooden rocking chair in my nursery. the wooden ones aren’t made like this one anymore. it is very comfortable with a little padding. it’s not even that bad without the pads. the back is curved and the arm rests are wide and it’s kinda low to the ground so i can get out of it easily. it is a personal preference i guess because i do not find the typical gliders very comfortable since my butt is kinda big tongue-out here is a pic of my nursery. it is not done but the start. i am definately getting a new cushion lol

I don’t know why people are getting kind if snippy with you OP. I don’t have kids so I don’t have an opinion based on experience. But from what I gather, the bigger recliner gliders are more comfortable. Personally, I think a rocking chair looks way better (I don’t really want a huge chair in the nursery) but when the time comes for me, comfort will probably win!

We have an old-fashioned wood rocking chair. I never really nursed my son in his room, so we only really use it for story time.
