We are doing a travel themed nursery and I’m trying to decide between 2 sets of decals for the wall behind her crib. It’s such a minor detail I know, but I’m having a hard time picking between a vintage or modern set of decals. Right now, her nursery has light grey walls, white trim, white crib, dresser, changing table , hardwood floors and a striped ivory, pale pink and lavender shag rug. The crib skirt is lavender and we’ll be adding a refinished dark brown/espresso stained rocker with neutral cushions. We also have this bamboo mobile http://www.petitcollage.com/deluxe-up-in-the-air-mobile
This is what the vintage decals look like:
This is what the modern decals look like:

I don’t know how great my “eye for decor” is, but I like the modern one a lot better. It feels more “nursery ” without being really juvenile. …

I love both but think the modern ones are more appropriate for a nursery. Where are they from?

I loooove the vintage decals! They’re soft in color, romantic, whimsical and fun but also inspiring. They both work, but I’d pick vintage if I had to choose.

Vintage all the way! Will give the nursery a soft, soothing feel compared to the modern ones in my opinion!!

The modern decor is brighter and funner so it feels more appropriate for a nursery. That being said, I think it’s up to you. I have no intention of making our future nursey super bright and friendly. It’s going to be adult friendly and I’m planning to make it more of a relaxation/nursey room.
Our apartment has a travel theme. WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE VINTAGE DECALS? I WANT THEM!

I love the vintage. They would be my first choice for any other room.
I like the modern for a nursery however. (I was always told that bright colors in large well defined shapes were easier for babies to see and focus on and thus were more attractive to them.)

With the furniture/decorations you’ve described, I think the vintage one would look better, but separately, I prefer the modern one!

I love vintage, very classy.

Thanks all! I’m torn because I’m partial to the vintage ones but we have grey walls so I’m afraid the decals might “blend in” too much. That and as many of you mentioned, the modern ones seem brighter without being garish and might be more nursery appropriate. I really like both but obviously, the styles clash so it’s one or the other!

If your walls weren’t grey, I’d say vintage, but I think they really might blend in too much! Modern will give the nursery a fun pop of colour and keep the room from becoming too “serious”
