Bees, I need your help!
I’ve been a runner for 3 months now, but I’ve just recently started getting side stitches and horrible abdominal cramps when I run. I haven’t upped my intensity all that much, and I’m being mindful to not eat at least an hour before a run. This problem happens relatively soon into my runs, around the first mile or two, and it’s so frustrating! I’m currently training for a half marathon, but I don’t know what to do if I can’t even get two miles without keeling over in pain.
I just feel like I’m trying so hard to go out and better my body and mind, but that my body is against me. Ugh. 🙁
My question is regarding what kind of specialist to see. I’m nervous that if I see a regular GI doctor he’ll tell me that I have IBS and to stop running since it exaggerates it. I want to get to the root of the problem so I can fix it and hopefully run in my half marathon.
