If you can still feel it, then you don’t have it in far enough. My doc told me to pinch it tight into an oval shape and insert it that way. She also said it should be tucked behind the pelvic bone. After being on it for a month or so, I had an appointment with my doc anyhow. While there, she had me take it out and she re-inserted it for me so that I could get a sense of exactly where/how to place it. Then, she had me remove it and replace it and she checked it. That was really helpful…a little embarrassing, but very helpful. Could you go in to your doc/nurse practitioner and have them help you place it so you get a sense of how it should be?

Just know that it may shift during the month, so you’ll need to reposition it occasionally. But it shouldn’t be noticeable at all during sex for you or him. Also, if you’re still on your period when it’s time to put the next months in and you use a tampon, be careful removing the tampon b/c it can pull the ring out with it.

Hope this isn’t Too Much Information and that it helps!

Demo: I am on the nuva ring, have been for about a year.  Do you use tampons when you are on your monthly friend?

I find every month, the first day I put it in it’s a little awkward, but then you forget about it and you don’t feel it at all.  It will stay in – don’t forget, it’s all muscle in there.  You can’t really push it up too far, it either sits in your cervix which is a little more weird feeling or up in your uterus – either way it will stay put, you won’t feel it during intercourse at all.

I have a hard time putting it in, the darn thing won’t stay pushed together!! lol I should try the tampon dispenser method

I was on nuva ring for about 2 years and it was great! I didn’t gain weight, go crazy, any of the bad side effects I have had from bc in the past. Like marlew said, it DID always feel funny when I first put it in, but that went away quickly. It only came out 1x, during intercourse, but I was able to put it back in right away. I never felt it at all during sex, but my man did. He said it doesn’t bother him or anything, but he could tell when it was in or out. He never complained or anything.

it shouldn’t be sitting near the bottom for sure, further up like a tampon, so push it upward a little more and give it a day. if you find tomorrow it’s uncomfortable push it in a bit more again.  just takes time getting used to it.  I *love* the nuva ring – I was really bad with the pill, and I tried the patch but my skin reacted weirdly to it.

I used the nuva ring for about a year and did not have any problems with it falling out or during sex.  You want it to be within reach of a finger so that you are able to get it out at the end of the month.  My guideline was at the first nuckle of my index finger.

Honestly, I think it fits a little bit differently for each person. I put mine in by pinching the sides into an oval. I found it easier to insert it the first couple of months if I stood and then put one foot up on the edge of the bathtub, bending my knee and opening myself up more. I don’t feel it when I wear it, if I do I give it a little nudge into a better position. Fiance says he does not notice it during sex.

Like everyone said, you shouldn’t feel it at all. It sits in the same place that a tampon would sit. I’ve been using it for years and I’ve never had it move or be awkward during intercourse nor could anyone feel it. Good luck with it. I love the ring!

I use the Nuvaring now.  The PPs are right… it may feel weird the first time, but you shouldn’t feel it.  I never notice it during intercourse either.  Mine fell out once the first month I had it in, but ever since then it hasn’t budged.  I hope you like it!

Been on it for 6 yrs and I loved it! Coming off it was easy too bc my cycles stayed normal. It does feel weird to someone new and I felt like you do now but its wonderful. It sits back there in a snug place and it won’t get lost so don’t worry. I did have it come out once during intercourse but that’s bc my anatomy is a little small compared with my Darling Husband. Sorry Too Much Information 🙂 Good luck!

I’m on the nuvaring and have had no problems. Sometimes I put it in and can still feel it…I just take it out and reinsert. If you’re anxious, try breathing out as you put it in.The one leg up on the bathtub works well too.  Also sometimes my FH says he can feel it when it’s in, but othertimes he cannot, and it’s not really been a real “problem” for either of us. Good luck! I love it!

You shouldn’t be able to feel it when it’s inserted. If you read on the nuvaring website there is helpful info on there. Also, I was on nuva ring for 3.5 years and it never popped or fell out. I believe your vaginal muscles will keep it in place.

The sex thing was never a problem for me. Fiance told me he could feel it sometimes, but it didn’t bother him. I think it mostly gets pushed up towards your cervix during intercourse. You can take it our during intercourse, but that always seemed like a lot of unnecessary effort to me! If you are interested in doing that read the website for details on how ling you can have the ring out.

Good luck!
