I’m torn. One one hand, I think that The Lion King is the better show, but on the other hand, I’m pretty sure that Alladin still has its original cast, which is pretty cool to see if you care about that sort of thing.
Basically, you really can’t go wrong either way!

I went to NYC for my senior trip with the choir and theater club in High School and we saw Stomp off Broadway, and Broadway productions of Memphis and The Lion King. As a Disney lover I was SO excited for Lion King and it was actually the worst of all three, tbh. The choreography and even the acting was terrible and it felt like they were just letting the costumes and the fact that it was “Disney” carry the whole show. It was very disappointing.
I haven’t seen Aladdin but I’d vote for anything that isn’t Lion King tbh.

I would definitely go with The Lion King over Aladdin. I admittedly only saw Aladdin while it was still in previews, but I thought it was a huge disappointment compared to the movie. Aladdin himself just wasn’t likeable. For example, instead of stealing to eat, he steals just because. No thanks.

Maybe it’s because I saw the Original NY Broadway cast of The Lion King. I’m in shock that anyone could think it was the worst. Aladdin is funny but definitely cheesy to an extent. The Lion King is just mesmerizing. i would take everyone to go see it if I had that kind of money hahaha.

princessinwaiting: I have not seen Aladdin but I have seen over 30 Broadway shows and to this day lion king remains one of the best I have ever seen!

I love The Lion King (I’ve seen 2 different touring productions), but since you’ve seen it, I vote Aladdin. Darling Husband and I love the version at California Adventure and are bummed they’re taking it out!

princessinwaiting: I had the pleasure to see both. The Lion King has that little extra something, je ne sais quoi. Aladin although a great movie, they add a little too many jokes…and I don’t know it’s just not at Lion King Level.
The Lion King will change you! lol
Edit: I just read you seen the Lion King…if your husband has seen it as well…see Aladdin….But Lion King is better.

Ahh this is so tough! I really can’t go wrong. I think I want to go for Aladdin. We are trying to do new things together so why not start now. I think it does still have its original cast which also makes it that much more special. You guys are a great help. I mean, the movie Aladdin was a bit cheesy…in a super fun way…so I think they’d be doing it a disservice if it wasn’t cheesy on Broadway, right?

Also, i just found out that a local bus company runs trips to NYC to see the Lion King during the summer months. I’ve done these trips before, and while enjoyable, i want to make this day special… Cramped bus in the heat of summer doesn’t scream “special” to me. I really want to make this day about him so driving ourselves, spending time at the arcade, getting dinner and seeing Aladdin on our own time frame seems to be the best option… Then maybe during the summer we can hop on the bus to see the Lion King.

I agree with PP. Everyone should see The Lion King once in their lives. I saw it in high school and it was a major memory for me. I’ve also heard AMAZING things about Aladdin, so you really can’t go wrong.
