Darling Husband and I are coming up on our first wedding anniversary and I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by! We are thinking of some traditions to start for every wedding anniversary (aside from going out to a nice dinner, etc). My best friend shared with me that she wears the same dress that she wore for her rehearsal dinner and they go on a date, which I thought was very sweet! I would love to hear some other anniversary traditions, especially the unconventional!

We make a point of going to the bakery where we got our wedding cupcakes from and picking a few up to eat for dessert on our anniversary.
I would kill to be able to wear my Rehearsal Dinner dress because I loved it, but there is the whole issue of it not wanting to zip anymore LOL!

We will be married in October but our current Valentine’s day tradition is to kind of go back to our first few weeks of dating mixed in with the place where he proposed. We go to lunch to our favorite chinese food place where we shared our first kiss, then hit a movie at the theater where we had a our first few movie dates. We then get a hotel room and go to dinner at the restaurant he proposed at. It’s always a good time 🙂

blushblossom91: Friends of ours take the same portrait every year-same clothes, location etc. I love it! Similar to this couple that I found on the net ( I would never post their pics)

julies1949: That is such a sweet idea! And it would be so cool to look back on all the pictures.

blushblossom91: One challenge is that most of us don’t live in the same house all our life anymore. I would pick a public place like a park, somewhere the background would stay relatively the same.

We have two traditions:
(1) We exchange gifts that are related (at least partially) to the traditional anniversary gifts. (So, first anniv – paper; second anniv – cotton; and so forth.) It’s a fun challenge so far.
(2) We take a photo with the number of the anniversary – we’ve drawn in on posterboard, held up a wooden number, etc.
