(Closed) NWR- Another oil rig exploded!

It’s actually not that uncommon. The workers get paid a LOT of money and it’s because of the hazard. Same with refineries. There’s no mention to the size of the explosion nor any leaking. The only reason the last one was so horrible was because it was the perfect storm played out in a deep water rig. This one is a shallow water which will be much easier to correct if necessary. 

ETA: Until more information is learned, its best not to jump to conclusions or expect it to be like the last.

It looks like maybe they did learn from the last one since no one was killed…

My brother works with oil rigs.  It’s a very dangerous job, and even when you’re doing everything right, you always have a chance of a blow out.  Since they were conducting maintenance on this rig (instead of oil ops) I will reserve judgement for now.  But my gut feeling is that whatever maintenance they were doing to the dig probably exposed some gases that blew up.  It’s a known hazard.
