Just got into a conversation with a coworker about how much fun high school was…got me thinking, obviously being engaged and starting to build a life with our FIs is awesome, but besides that, if you could go back to any time period in your life, what would it be?
I loved the summer before college when I was 18. That was the first summer I met my fiance, and I really liked him, but didn’t know if he liked me, and we went on all these corny dates, made out in the high school parking lot, etc…. and it was the first summer I met all the boys that are still our best friends, and we used to do really stupid but fun stuff together- Weird NJ/exploring abandoned houses type of stuff that all stopped once we were old enough to drink. Plus it was fun to not worry about jobs, money, or really have to be responsible for anything.
So what were some of your best times?

i would say two years ago, the winter i met my fiance.
i was young, and just moved back from LA. i felt so young and beautiful and so full of life. our first year of dating was just so fun because we fell in love so fast. we went on so many adventures and road trips, and it was so refreshing to be with someone who made me feel so alive.
high school was fun, but it doesn’t matter in the real world.

HA! High school was traumatic for me, that’s definitely not my pick ;-). I’d have to say the year before I met my husband and the first year of us dating. I was traveling the world, rediscovering my love of photography, really coming into my own…and my husband and I had so many incredible whirlwind adventures that first year! We’re getting ready to have a bunch more, so I think my “best period” may have to change after this year!

Last spring was the best time of my life so far. It was right when my Fiance and I were starting to get to know each other and started dating. All of our cute “firsts” happened last spring: first date, first kiss, first time sleeping with each other, first sleepover, meeting the parents.
I love the right now, but last spring was so special.

I actually loved being in highschool, but when I look back i realize how lame it was, how lame I was, and how lame people around me were.
Life is great right now, don’t get me wrong, I’m really really happy in my newlywed state, but sometimes I long for my single days. 20-22 were killer awesome times. Young, single, free. Any responsibilities I had (university, part time job, kraft dinner) were nothing compared the responsibilities I have now.
On the other hand, thank goodness I”m no longer young, single, and free. I don’t know how much my 27 year old mind and body would appreciate it.
Life is tricky isn’t it?

@heatherrobyn: I couldn’t agree more… our first year was that exactly. And that’s the must beautiful I’ve ever felt in my life… free, beautiful and alive (and filled with energy!)

High school and college. I looked good, I felt good, I was an academic superstar, I had lots of friends, lots of energy and lots of cute boys to keep me entertained. I wish I could live the years 16-21 all over again, only with my current maturity level.

No question about it, the second half of my sophomore year of college until I graduated. Everything about that time was perfect. I had tons of friends, always busy, no money worries, met FH, lived in my favorite city, went to the beach almost every day, had a job that allowed me free access to tons of historical sites and activities (super awesome for a person like me), I’d love to relive that time!

I would say my freshman year of college – which was the year before I met Darling Husband – it was SO much fun!
