Thanks for the advice! Forensic science has always held a special place in my heart. That’s great that your sister is in the field!
Thanks! Yes, I am hoping my PhD will make me a strong candidate.
Thank you for your response. By “top” schools, do you mean top 50? Because there is one top 50 school in my area that I will be applying to. As to why I am not applying to the top schools, my DH and I are just not really in the position to move away for me to attend law school. We will be relying 100% on his income while I am in school, and he is a supervisor for a family business, which he will be retiring from. We know that following law school, we will most likely have to move away for a few years so that I can establish myself in my field, which is fine because financially it will be worth it. I know of several patent attorneys who went to one of the three schools in my area and who now have very established and lucrative careers, so I am hoping that since the field of patent law is very specific my PhD and technical background/experience will help me get a job following law school.
Thanks for your reply. The people I have spoken to are specifically in patent law (some local, some not), and have worked/are currently working in various areas around the country. They have said that because of my background I will be a unique case when it comes to looking for a job, and my skillset will make me marketable. Two of these patent attorneys have entered the job market within the last 3 years, so fairly recently. Of course I will consult with them again once it is time for me to enroll in law school in order to get their advice on which school would be the best for future job prospectives. I think the powerscore bibles will be my go-to at first, and depending on how I do the first time, maybe I will explore the possibility of taking a class. I am thinking that once football season starts and DH is occupied with that, I will have A LOT of time to focus on LSAT study. LOL
