I would try FedEx again, and if not, I would dispute it.  If it was guaranteed, then it should be there!

@CanAmBride:  I deal with FedEx all the time for my job and they ‘fail’ on delivery alot… if they failed to deliver the package within the ‘Paid’ timescale that you paid for them they have to refund you the payment, which is what happens with us all the time. 

Call Fedex and ask to speak with a manager and explain that as they failed to deiliver the package on time you would like to claim a refund for the shipping amount.

I would take up a beef with Fed Ex, since it is a failure on there part. that is most likely what your credit card company would do on your behalf anyway

FedEx once delivered my MA to CA package to Alaska instead, and let it sit on the runway in summer, ruining it. You best beleive we stopped payment and did major insurance claims on that! I never use FedEX anymore – they’ve never gotten anything 100% right for me!

Double check the details first.  Did you get it to them on time?  (The overnight delivery might only apply if you got it to them by noon or something like that – based on my experience the error is likely on their part and not yours though!).

Otherwise, I agree with PPs, try to take it up with FedEx again before going to your CC company.
