So I don’t know if this bothers anyone else, but I gotta ask: does it annoy you when you’re checking out at a store, and the register person just throws your change and receipt at you and expects you to get out of the way immediately for the next customer?
Ugh, it just really bothers me. Maybe I’m getting old (at 26, haha!), and I know that it speeds up the process when you get out of line as quickly as possible, but jeez, would it kill these people to hand you your change first so you can put it away, and then your receipt? Or, here’s an idea … put the receipt in the bag?
Today while at the drugstore, I was checking out, and the cashier person hastily gave me my change and receipt and said, “next!,” and even though I was clearly not done putting everything away, the person behind me started putting her stuff on the counter. So I felt rushed, stepped to the side, and I dropped my change everywhere. I was ticked. I’m not one of those really slow people who takes forever to get situated, because those people actually annoy me, too. But like, a few extra seconds wouldn’t kill anyone, right?
Maybe I’m just in a bad mood, but yeah, it really bothers me. Am I the only one?

haha ummmmmmm ok please don’t hate me but i’m totally the opposite. it really annoys me when someone ahead of me in line is getting everything all squared away while i’m waiting to move forward. I am almost always in kind of a rush and i hate running errands so I just want to move along as quickly as possible. I generally just grab everything and throw it in my wallet then organize it in the car; or I just take a few steps ahead and get myself situated so the next person can move up. Sorry :/

Oh, I totally hear ya, CorgiTales. Like I said, I really hate it when people take forever to put everything away (my mom falls into that category, and it’s so embarassing when I go shopping with her because she’ll hold up the line for five minutes if you let her). But like today, for example, I wasn’t even given time to put my change in my wallet! I was literally pushed aside with my money in my hand and the cashier didn’t even hand me my bag before the next person was already in place … I almost forgot it. That seems to happen to me more and more these days. I’m all about just chucking everything in my purse, but I also feel like a few seconds to at least get things in my wallet wouldn’t hurt anyone 🙂 Also, I live in a city, so I walk everywhere with no car to go to to get organized. I’ve often just left a store with a huge chunk of cash in my coat pocket because I get pushed out of the way before I can stick it in my wallet.
I dunno, it’s a breate of fresh air when I’m at a high-end department store and they hand you your cash, wait a second, hand you your receipt, wait a minute, and bring your bag around the counter. Sighhh 🙂
But no worries, no hate coming from this end 🙂

As a retail slave, I work the cash register from time to time. Definitely not my favorite thing to do. I understand where the cashier was coming from. It does get really frustrating when people stand there and get all their stuff put away right in front of you with a long line behind.
That being said, I would NEVER yell “next” and push that person out of the way. It’s not so bad where I work, because we do hand the change back and then there are a couple more steps before the receipt prints. Most of the time we shove it in the bag and hand the bag to the person.
I agree that teh girl was rude to you. That’s just bad customer service.

I totally just stand there and finish putting my change/credit card back in my wallet and my wallet back in my purse. I do it as fast as I can because I don’t want to hold up the line but geez give me a few seconds!
