It depends on your budget, but I love the W Hotel Lakeshore which is in a great location and has a trendy, fun vibe.  The Affinia Hotel (which is close to the W) is supposed to be nice and has a very cool rooftop bar called C-View.  The Marriott Hotel on Mich Ave is not terribly exciting, but is in a great location.  The James Hotel is another favorite of mine, but might be a little pricey.

Actually if you ladies are young and looking to cut loose and have fun with the locals, I’d probably not suggest staying downtown. Try to find a hotel in Lincoln Park or Lakeview. Chicago people still hang out down town but most of us go to the surrounding neighborhoods (Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, Bucktown, Lakeview) since that’s where we live. It’s lots of tourists in downtown. If you still want to stay downtown, then I’d suggest somewhere that’s close to an El stop. I believe there’s a Courtyard Marriott that’s close to the Grand Red Line.

I just went to a bachelorette party in Chicago where we stayed at the W Lakeshore and it was a totally awful experience.  Everything that they had promised us, they were unable to deliver on.  On prior occasions, I’ve stayed at the Hotel Allegro and Hotel Monaco and they were both quite nice.  A bit more upscale is the Peninsula which has a great tea service if you’re interested in doing a high tea.  Just as fabulous is the new Residence in at River North and the Affinia.  Have a great time there, Chicago is one of my favorite cities!
