- Wedding: November 2009
I know that during wedding planning, a nose dive in career motivation tends to happen, but I got married several weeks ago and just started a new job and this feels like a bit more than that. This might get long – sorry! As a little backstory, I worked in one industry for several years and due to high stress and super long hours, got burnt out. So I decided to do a career change and was very responsible about it: went to career counseling, figured out what I liked, what I didn’t, what my values are, etc. I finally settled on what I thought would work for me and proceeded to find a job. And then proceeded to spend a very miserable year and a half in that job (granted they changed the job description on me 6 months into it).
I ended up leaving the job a few weeks before the wedding and since wedding planning kept me pretty busy, decided to put off the jobhunting until after we returned. Well, 2 interviews randomly fell into my lap the week before the wedding and by the time I got back from the honeymoon I had another job. I know I should feel lucky, but I’m a month into it and I’m already dreading getting up in the morning! Has anyone else gone through this and what did you do to get yourself out of it? I’m just not sure what to do to get myself remotivated so thought I’d look for words of advice. : )
