I recently received a gift from Amazon and was surprised to find it wrapped. I rarely gift wrap presents I send online, because I figure opening the mystery gift is part of the surprise and the gift wrap is just extra/wasted paper.
But, after receiving a wrapped gift, I’m wondering if I’m in the minority in my thinking.
What do you do? pay the extra $4-5 for wrapping or just send it as is?

It depends for me. When it is the younger kids and I am mailing stuff to their house I do gift wrap it. Since usually their parents are opening the box it comes in and then they open the present.

oracle: Totally depends– I love a well-presented gift. I absolutely love wrapping, and lots of people know how my gifts always look spectacular.
That said– if I am ordering it from a place online, it will depend on the place I am ordering from.
I just recieved a wedding gift (way after the fact) from Crate and Barrel. The senders chose the gift wrap option– which is simple, but was also very nice. It was a box with a top with large Crate and Barrel ribbon. It was a nice presentaion, but I never would have complained had they not choosen gift wrap!!
If I don’t know what the gift wrap entails from a store– and it’s not an upscale store, I would likely not check gift. Sometimes it can even be tacky LOL

I’ll usually only add the gift wrap if it’s under $3…$5 to wrap a book? Nope. It’s not really a big deal to me but if they offer the gift wrap for cheap or free then hey, why not.

Sometimes I do, especially when it’s kids or my son. Von Maur offers free shipping and gift wrap so I always do when I’m there for gift, their wrapping is so pretty that it would be a shame not to.
