I’ve always used Turbotax and I LOVE it. I think after we get married though I’ll have to switch to a pro service. I’m self employed so that makes my situation a lot more complicated, I have no idea how that would work when filing jointly.

I always did them myself, on paper, when I was working in high school and such. The past few years, however, I’ve always just given it to my dad’s accountant. He’s got one on payroll, so it never costed me anything.
This will be the first year filing with H, so I’m not sure how we will do it. We are thinking about trying turbotax and seeing how it goes. If all else fails, we can just send it down the road to my dad’s accountant.

I have been doing taxes through VITA for the last 3 years since I am one of their preparers. Already gearing up for a crazy season. We get about 200ish tax returns but aren’t sure if we will be sent to other branches to help with their tax prep since we have the smallest amount of returns in our district. And they request the help, I guess I will be gassing up my car and going. At least I will get reimbursed mileage depending on what branch I have to go to.

I used to do my own taxes, but for the past few years I’ve used Turbo Tax as the return time seems to be MUCH faster than snail mail alone.
I do my state taxes through my states website.

I go to an accountant. I’m a freelancer and have 1099’s and have to take my own taxes out of each check, which means quarterly payments each year. It’s MUCH simpler for me to pay a pro a few hundred dollars than for me to figure out all the write offs and tax breaks myself.

It is worth far more than what we pay our tax man to have a professional do it. I wouldn’t touch all that with a 10 foot pole. The family has had the same accountant for 20+ years, and he’s worth every penny.
