I’m new, but I thought this might be an interesting topic: What are your favourite non-wedding websites?
I think my all-time favourite is Dooce.com. I think it’s one of the funniest mommy blogs out there, and I love Heather’s honesty about dealing with depression. Also, the Daily Chuck and Coco photographs always make me laugh.
I also love Cake Wrecks (which I guess is wedding-related in many ways), Engrish.com, Post Secret (I’ve sent in a few times, but never seen any of my cards), and Feministing.com.
Anyone else a web-comic junkie? I adore Something Positive, Punch an’ Pie, Octopus Pie, and Hark! A Vagrant by fellow Canadian Kate Beaton. If anyone enjoys re-imagining history, then Beaton’s work should tickle your fancy. Or if you enjoy absurdism.
Craftster and Knitty are also two of my faves.

Cake Wrecks! I love it! I laugh every time. The websites bookmarked on my computer are mostly news-related — ajc.com, nytimes.com, etc. I also read Reality Steve. And of course — the all-time winner — Facebook.com.

Oh my gosh — I have two FAVs! Planning a wedding leaves me close to no money for fashion indulgences. RueLaLa and Gilt are websites that feature private designer sales, usually 50% or more off retail. The sales go 2-3 days and they’ll have 2-5 ’boutiques’ at a time. We’re talking designer clothing, some jewelry, even some home stuff. Earlier this year they even featured a Nicole Miller wedding dress boutique that had a to die for $2600 wedding dress for $650! There is a lot of the typical Prada, Cole Haan, Robert Rodriguez, etc. but also a lot of trendier new designers that I’m discovering, like I just found out about Yoanna Baraschi. The only thing that saves my bank account is that stuff goes SO FAST! I found a Yoanna Baraschi tunic dress I wanted to wear for my welcome party and it was sold out by the time I got back to the computer! And last week Gilt had a Kate Spade bag I wanted that sold out within an hour!
And of course, I also am addicted to Facebook!
