I pay $80 each cleaning, they come every other week, my place is a 900 sq. ft loft. They do a deep clean, all the laundry, wash and change the sheets, I think it’s a little overpriced but they do a really good job so I have no complaints.

My parents have someone come in every other week, I think for $75.  They clean the bathrooms, vacuum the living room and stairs, and clean the kitchen.

Once a month, $80 for an 800-ish-square foot apt, but I live in Los Angeles so it’s probably extra expensive

Rates are going to be determined regionally…

GOOGLE your area to find out who offers such services, or check the Newspaper / Yellow Pages.  Then you can get an idea of what the going rate is (some places are hourly, others are flat rate by the package), and what variety of services are offered (many places have a check list of various packages on-line)

Tends to be the bigger the city, the more you’ll pay.

At my mom’s she has a cleaning lady once every other week. I know she pays $50.00 and this was the price agreed upon almost 12 years ago when she began coming to us. We pay her $10/hour. She used to come for 5 hours but now only comes for about 3 – she gave herself a raise 🙂 My mom’s place is a relatively small three bedroom. I don’t know the square footage. She cleans the floors, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. I know my mom wants her to dust a little more than she does. She doesn’t do laundry and sometimes she washes dishes if there’s any to wash when she comes but it’s not something we’ve asked her to do. When I was a teenager and my room was really messy my mom told her not to do it. She also changes the sheets.

We’ll pay $250 once a month for a deep clean of our 2300 sq ft house. Money well spent. 🙂

You guys make me feel better- I felt like we were totally overpaying but it seems not.

Ours is $80 a cleaning, once a month, for a 850-ish sq foot, 1 bed apartment. The do all the regular cleaning stuff, no laundry or sheets. We have a dog who sheds a moderate amount and they always get the area rug and corners nice and clean. We are in an expensive city.

I pay a local college student $10/hr to clean our 1,000 Sq. Ft Townhouse. It doesn’t normally take longer than 2-3 hours. That was the rate she suggested over a year ago.

I paid a cleaner $125 for cleaning before the wedding, about 4 hours.  She said on a biweekly basis it’d be $80 and monthly $85 I think.

@MrsPom:  they do your laundry too! Damn! I’m jealous. We have a service that comes every other week $79.80 a cleaning. They do a deep clean, dishes, change the bed linens and towels.

Do you guys tip your cleaning person? We do, but it’s getting kinda expensive…

ETA: 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms 1100 sqft condo.

I pay $80 every week for 1400sq ft. I do not have her do laundry as I keep my dogs in the basement where the laundry room is when she comes over. She also doesn’t clean the inside of my fridge or the inside of my stove. My mother only pays $90 a week for 2500sq ft but I have two dogs so the fur is a lot.

We have a ~1200 sq ft townhouse, our housekeeper comes every 2 weeks and we pay $75 plus $10 tip in the DC metro area. I could see changing to every 3 weeks, but sometimes the house is getting a little ridiculous and we need her to come ASAP 🙂
