I don’t know where to post about this besides the Bee, because it’s too private for Facebook but I need to tell SOMEBODY. And of course, the best people to tell are random people on the internet!
One of my dad’s best friend’s got arrested for murder recently. It was a very brutal murder, a hate crime sort of thing. I have known this man my whole life basically, he is a great dad and a great friend to my dad. I am just…in shock.
Thanks for letting me vent! I don’t know what else to do.

@TheFutureMcBride: That is the part that worries me the most, the families. His kids are pretty young and I cannot imagine what they are going/about to go through. As sorry as I feel for them, I feel terrible for the family/community associated with the victim. It is just so, so hard to believe that someone you have known so long is (allegedly) capable of such a terrible thing.

@ILikePink: Both families are lossing in this situation because there’s nothing good for either. It’s all so hard to wrap one’s mind around. I’m sitting here just trying to imagine how you must feel, but have no idea. Again, I’m just sorry for everyone involved.

Oh, that’s just an awful shock! I’m so sorry for his family and the victim’s family.
Maybe it’s the naive optimist in me, but you say he was arrested for it, not that he has been found guilty. Is there any possible way it was someone else? That it was a mistake he was arrested?
How terrible. I’m so sorry you have to deal with this!

Just please don’t jump to conclusions. Arrested really does not mean guilty. The police do make mistakes. Obviously I don’t know if he did it or not, but at least reserve judgment until you get some actual proof that satisfies your decision. I think one of the worst things about being wrongfully accused (if he was) is having your family and friends assume the worst about you based just on what the police say.

Oh no. I’m so so so so so sorry hon. What a horrible shock to you all. It goes to show you sometimes how people can get carried away/wrapped up/make really stupid decisions when you would never have expected that person to wind up in trouble. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do other than follow your heart. My heart goes out to you, your family, his family, and of course, the victim and their family. What an awful time for everyone.

I am trying my best to be as vague as possible, and to not jump to any conclusions. It’s just very shocking to see a person you know described as a murder suspect. I need to think of another adjective other than “shocking”.

@ILikePink: Wow, that is horrible. I’m so sorry! Do you think it’s possible he’s innocent, or does it seem like a clear cut-and-dried case?
