damn you student loans >.<
damn you student loans >.<
@One2-Three4: I seriously hate when life happens. My car just failed on me last night and I’m still waiting to hear back from the mechanic about the cost. I’ll be carrying a balance this month for sure. I also have $5,250 out on my “school” credit card. I have to wait until late January to be reimbursed by my company for it. Even though it’s a 0% APR and I know I will get the money back eventually, it still panicks me to have a big balance hanging out there.
Husband and I had been together debt free for seven years and we just fell into a little bit of “shit happens” debt over the past year. We’ve got a plan to get out…I just wish it could happen overnight!
oops. shoulda read that that included our cars and student loans…i didn’t realize that!
yeah – debt sucks. i’d LOVE to be in the “we don’t have ANY debt” club…but we’re not. we ARE however working on cutting it down. our CC debt SHOULD be paid off within the next 12 months!
our cars and my student loans, however…i don’t really count that in our debt – because those are considered “good debt” but it does suck that our cars are at (between both) around $12k that we owe – and my student loans are DOWN from over $42K that I owed when I graduated 7 years ago to only $34K! but i’m SO happy I got in a GREAT deal with my loans, i’m locked in with my rate and currently my two loans, one is $215/month and the other is only $65
honestly – as much as I hate paying our credit card bills (not admitting how much) – when it comes to our cars and student loans, I really don’t think of those too much. it’s the darned cc bills i can’t WAIT to pay off! just one more year of being “poor”! lol. 😀
@One2-Three4: I have been lucky in thtat I’ve had a good, steady job since college and no major issues. I did have one large car repair which my Fiance fronted me the money for and I paid back.
I don’t have nearly as much in savings as Fiance, so if I were to lose my income I’d either have to drastically change my lifestyle or carry some cc debt.
I’ll have student loans to repay until the day I die (graduate degree). :-/
the results of this poll are kinda crazy- such extremes! i don’t have much debt, but i have absolutely terrible credit. the man has near-perfect credit, but is about $100,000 in debt (most of it is student loans).. i’m not sure which is worse!
can i also add – while “home loans” are NOT included…i’m also ECSTATIC that we have such a cute little 2 bedroom house that we own – bought for only $75,000?! yup – our mortgage (including PMI and insurance and all that…) is ONLY $600 / month!!!! hehe
Mine is all student loan debt, accruing currently since I’m getting an MS. Hopefully it’s an “investment” as well, just a less tangible one than a house!
I personally have no debt right now. I have paid off all of my debts as of this month (WAHOO!!!), however my car died recently and now I’m going to have to take a loan out for a new (at least new to me!) one.
My Fiance however has over $40,000 in debt because of student loans.
yeesh, school debt alone puts me well over 40k
