ladyartichoke :  POC with naturally super thick, kinky hair. I go to the salon 1x per year to trim and straighten. That costs $75 plus tip. For the rest of the year, I maintain my hair myself. Probably costs me less than $50 / year for all of my supplies  (which DH also steals lol).

But back when I used to chemically straighten my hair at the salon, the cost was outrageous! $150 every 4 weeks or $1,800 / year!!

ladyartichoke :  too much 😂 she’s worth it though! My cost depends on what I do with color, on the low end it’s around $200 and can go as high as $350, but I just finished a long color correction and hopefully will stay on the lower end most appointments now.

I go every 7-8 weeks, have longish, curly hair (currently at my shoulder blades, hoping for around waist length by the wedding next summer) that is naturally a dark blonde but is currently a few shades darker on top with a lighter balyage and some highlights throughout to break it up.

I do color on my hair about twice a year (around $200 each time), I get a hair cut when I do the color. I don’t get split ends often so I don’t do regular trims like most people. Here is where my hair care budget gets f*ed. I get blowouts about once a month for about $50, my hair products are from the salon so another $50 every other month I would say is the average.

In total I esstimate $1000 a year. If I did not do blowouts it would be around $500 but I can’t give them up!
