I am so sorry. You really should say something to your mom so she can’t erase your debit card info from his XBox account so the charges don’t keep occuring. There may have even been charges in the past that have gone unnoticed. I am sorry your family uses you and that you’re in a financial bind. I know you said that $5 isn’t a big deal, but when you’re living on a budget like yours (and mine), $5 can be a REALLY BIG DEAL. Please say something about it.

Could you request a new card with new numbers?  This way the information that is stored in your brothers xbox account will no longer work.

Gosh…I’m mad at your brother for you.  And I’m evener madder at your mom for letting your brother get away with things like this 🙁

Report it!

I’m so sorry, finances are a huge deal and 5 bucks is ALOT when you are giving all your money to bills. Hello food and gas?!

I hope your situation changes soon!!

wow! I’m sorry 🙁 That’s really shitty.. Yes your card is still on the xbox, and will be until it is erased. We have so many different cards on ours. So I would make sure you go and delete it before he uses it again!

I can’t believe your mom wouldn’t take it away (especially failing a grade!!). Is he the baby? Have you told her you have no money? You can barely pay your bills AND pay for wedding stuff, it doesn’t help when they steal money from you? It is stealing. They didn’t ask, and you never said “use it whenever you want”.

Even if your mom doesn’t pay you back, she should make him! And saying you didn’t buy hin anything for his birthday? Tell her why should you, he takes it upon himself to buy stuff with your card.. Happy Birthday! there is your map and the $4.99 was probably for points. If you want to watch a movie or buy anything you need points. That is the lowest amount of points.. the price gets higher the more points you want.

I’m sorry about this. If you are looking at an online statement, there should be an 800# somewhere when you click the name of the business charging you. call it now and tell them you did not authorize this charge and tell them to remove your credit card from this account completely, or you will contest the charge. If they refuse to remove the charge, call your bank or credit card company and dispute it. I’ve had to do this a few times, for “free offers” that suddenly kick in with a charge down the line.

If I were you, I would then go to your parents house, when your brother is not home, and unhook his XBox and hold it hostage (seriously hide it, somewhere he would never find) until he pays you the $20 and the $4.99 for this latest transaction. I have a feeling your money will magically appear within a week.

@SandyThePoet: I think that is the best idea! You should definitely do that!

I’d report it as a fradulent charge.  Your brother is using a card that doesn’t belong to him and that he isn’t an authorized user on.  That is fradulent.

Change your account numbers/cards immediately. Your brother may have kept your card information somewhere other than his Xbox (may have copied it from there) I don’t know if this is possible but who knows.

You can not report this as fraud unfortunately because you put the information into the Xbox. The bank will not reimburse you for that because no one STOLE your information.

I would be pissed!

Good Luck!

Find out how  to get in touch with Xbox Live, say your son is charging things to the account without consent and you want the account closed immedietly. No more XBox for lying little boys.

Oh hell no! Your mom has a major problem with enabling your brother’s bad behavior. She isn’t doing him any favors because stealing/not doing your work is a recipe for life failure. I agree that changing your cards is needed – you don’t have to set up a new account, just call the number on the back of your card and explain that you suspect fraud and want a new card with a new number. It’s like he is testing the waters of what he can get away with. If there are no consequenses, he will do it again. You should also let little brother know that while he is stealing your money, you are struggling to pay your own bills.

@FMM: Agreed.

Also, XBox live is typically a monthly charge so you should take action as soon as possible as it is likely it will occur again.

This is a big deal. Five dollars is five dollars and in my house its a big deal. I would call your bank and report it as fradulant activity. Get reimbursed and have a little chat with your brother because that is not acceptable. I am sorry your so frustrated!!
