As a PP mentioned “Use cold water to wash your hair if you can. Hot water will cause the colour to come out much faster.” As unpleasant as it sounds there is a dramatic difference in how long my red lasts when I follow this rule.

Also, the shampoo and conditioner you use is really important and that is is sulfate free and safe for color. I loved Redken as it seems to maintain my reds a lot longer.

@SouthernGirl:  Try some dry shampoos between washes to keep the colour longer. The glaze shampoos and conditioners can only do so much and often don’t work that well. Less frequant washing is the best solution. 

I love my red hair, been every colour under the sun, but for me I always come back to reds.
