So I was just watchung Jimmy Kimmel and he did an extensive joke about dating sites, in particular about weed/pot dating sites. He then went on to a skit about imitating a site for meth users. I’m not a prude in any way or anything but I just don’t find this appropriate. I know it’s supposed to be a joke, but to me, drug abuse is not funny. Is it just me who thinks things like this are inappropriate or am I a very old fashioned 19 year old?!

Mrs_Purple: Most of the stuff Jimmy Kimmel jokes about is inappropriate, but that’s how people make money. I don’t watch him for that reason.

I think they’re using an extreme example to point out how ridiculous a dating site based on your drug of choice is. I don’t personally find it inappropriate

Mrs_Purple: Comedy often times hits upon inappropriate or taboo topics. It can be funny when done tastefully. It’s how comedians are able to have a withstanding career. I don’t know much about Jimmy Kimmels comedy, but (I know) he’s been around for a while, so something has to be working for him. Best to just to not feed into his show if it’s bothersome, as those individuals are based on ratings in regards to who is viewing them each night.

I don’t find it inappropriate, it’s just a joke. I think you’re taking it too seriously. Are there seriously dating sites for pot users? That’s ridiculous, so I understand why he made a joke out of it.

Meh. I get offended when some humour crosses the line (e.g. about deaths of actual people, or about rape or child abuse); but I wouldn’t put drug jokes into that category.
