It looks like all attempts to stop this from happening have failed. As far fetched as it seemed, I held out hope that the delegates would vote against Trump, but, he is set to take office on Friday.
Here are my predictions:
1. Impeachment. Very unlikely because the GOP is in control so it’s unlikely they would impeach their own. I still see it as a possibility though, they will dump Trump and put Pence in his place. As horrified as I am by Trump, Pence is scary in many different ways, especially to supporters of women’s rights to Healthcare.
2. He will step down because he is in over his head. Given his massive ego and tendencies toward narcissism, this is highly unlikely. I would think he would have to be tossed out before leaving.
3. It won’t be that bad (as long as he doesn’t piss off “loser” unstable leaders (Kim Jong Un I’m looking at you) and start a war)
I’m leaning towards three. Trump has no experience, he has no interest in learning about the position and he has no idea what he is doing. I’m thinking his cabinet will be making all of the decisions and he will be blindly signing and approving things because he has no clue what he’s doing.
Given his wide array of cabinet choices, political watchers are having a tough time predicting the path his presidency will take because they are all over the place. IE retired brain surgeon Carson being the head of HUD, anti vaxxer being in charge of vaccine safety and research… it’s honestly like he’s blowing up the whole system by putting people in place who have no experience with the departments they will be in charge of.
I know some very smart people in my life who voted for Trump. Some did it out of hate for Hillary while others truly thought he could do things better. So when people say only the uneducated voted for Trump, I know first hand that it’s not that clear cut.
This isn’t a “bash Trump supporters thread” I’m really just curious to see what everyone else is thinking and feeling.

I’m hopeful, but utterly terrified.

Ummm… disgust and impending doom. Grieving the loss of democracy, truth, justice, representation, hope and the future. Embarrassment. Rage.

Definitely all of the above
Right now all we can do is take action and resist if he does anything he promised. Make those calls, make their lives a living hell and be heard
I saw that one politician had to be escorted from a town hall meeting about the ACA repeal because the crowd was too much for him to handle.
It used to be repeal repeal repeal and when it finally got through to them how disgusted people were, they added the word replace in there.
That’s because the people spoke. There is hope.

araebo5585 : I totally agree with you that he has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. That makes me extra terrified because I’ve been watching these cabinet confirmation hearings and losing my mind. It’s like he asked around “who would be the worst possible person for this position?” and then took that answer and nominated them! I’m looking at you Betsy DeVos!

I haven’t been following the hearings but I’m thinking I have some reading to do now!

His cabinet is a team of hitmen. Each one has nothing but contempt for the very institution they now oversee.

I am filled with dread. But, deep down, I believe in lightly structured anarchy. The government was irreparably fucked before this, maybe this will just expedite the collapse of an incredibly flawed system.

I am terrified but trying to be optimistic however watching these confirmation hearings are doing nothing to assuage my worries.

I for one am very excited to see Obama go. It’s been a long 8 years.
Very curious to see how the war against ISIS goes and how the ecomony will do as those were my top concerns this election.

Considering Trump won I’d say ISIS got one over on us pretty well since that’s exactly what they want. I’m sure they were celebrating bigly on US election night.

They used his hate speech in recruitment videos.

araebo5585 : We gave them a great, great gift by electing Donald Trump.

It’s all such a fucking shit show.
Here’s an idea for anyone who wants to join in. I still can’t fathom going from a family of such grace, humility, and basic decency – to this selfish petty bully 🙁
