lareolin :  How is this thread pathetic? OP asked a question which, as a Trump supporter, you could have provided some type of insight into or given your thoughts. Instead, you choose to emulate your President and grunt out an insult.

The elitist, I’m smarter than you, I know what’s best for you, insulting, hating on and bullying those who disagree is exactly why Republicans are now in charge. Democrats should use their losses as a learning experience, then maybe they’ll have a shot in 4 years. Not holding much hope though, can’t change what is not acknowledged. Dems seem invested in making their losses totally about the oppositions supposed faults and shortcomings (claiming repubs are racist, stupid, add the insult of your choice! haha). That attitude will only lead to more defeat for the Dems.

bramblebush :  I’m not trying to slam on President Obama because I respect him but your statements about him being raised by a single mom with public school with no healthcare are fiction.  He lived in Hawaii with his upper middle class grandparents and his grandmother was a Vice President of Bank of Hawaii.  He attended one of Hawaii’s most exclusive private schools for elementary and high school.  Not hardly the “pulled up by his bootstraps” image that the fiction presents.

But I’m glad that you connected with his story, just not quite the way you presented.

MrsMeowton :  I absolutely agree with you. For too many people, they think the fact that whatever he thinks flies out of his is “refreshing”. It’s funny that we work so hard to teach kids to think before they speak to not sound like idiots and embarrass both themselves and us, but when it is Trump it is just what we need. We need an adult in office. I could have easily gotten over Clinton losing if the winning candidate had been someone respectable.

What was that about hating the elitist “I’m smarter than you” rubbing it in your face nonsense the meanie liberals do?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/01/19/trump-toasts-his-nominees-by-far-the-highest-iq-of-any-cabinet-ever-assembled/?utm_term=.57fcebbb4c7c

I love this. Point the finger at the one side of the political landscape for being elitist bullies, but elect the dude who had daddy pay for his ivy league education who brags about how smart he and his posse are. So smart in fact they know more than the generals on fighting ISIS and don’t need intel briefings every day.

SoonMrsCrocker2 :  “The elitist, I’m smarter than you, I know what’s best for you, insulting, hating on and bullying those who disagree is exactly why Republicans are now in charge.”

You do realize just described Trump to a T.

Elitist? He lives in gilded penthouse in Manhattan and has a gold plated toilet. FFS. He has literally built his fortune on the backs of the working class people he screwed over. He distastefully boasts about (and possibly exaggerates) his wealth at every possible opportunity

smarter than you? Probably not, but he certainly thinks he is. He literally has said many times “I’m really smart.” “I’m like a really smart person.” He boasts incessantly about having graduated from “the Wharton School of Business” (he neglects to mention this was as an undergrad transfer student. He doesn’t have an MBA as he likes to imply) Now he is absurdly saying that his cabinet has the “highest IQ” of any cabinet ever assembled.

Knows what’s best for you? A few of the gems from his campaign: “I know more than the generals do about ISIS” “what the hell have you got to lose?” “I alone can fix it”

Insulting, hating on, bullying? I’d be here all day if I tried to list all the examples, so just a few highlights: a Gold Star family, a POW, a Civil Rights hero, the POTUS, a Federal judge, the US intelligence community, a disabled man, the Pope, any woman who he judges to be less than “a 10”, breastfeeding mothers…

My personal favorite “Every time I speak of the haters and losers I do so with great love and affection. They cannot help the fact that they were born fucked up!” Yes, that is a REAL quote. He tweeted that on 9/28/14 and still hasn’t deleted it!

WestCoastV :  you illustrated my point. Your entire post it’s all about turning it back on the perceived wrongs of Trump rather than accept any responsibility for your partys losses. The continued disdain, vitriol toward those who don’t agree with your views along with the refusal to accept any responsibly why the Dems were decimated in the elections, will only lead to more Democrat defeat.  Whine away, continue insulting, pointing fingers at Repubs, Trump, and Trump supporters, just know that it’s not helping your party to gain back any power.

SoonMrsCrocker2 :  You are exactly right.  The Democrats should really wonder what turned people like me, for example, so totally off of them this election cycle.  I traditionally voted Democrat, although I am registered Independent.  I voted for Obama twice.  Obviously I voted for Trump this election.

The Democratic Party has abysmally, record-breakingly failed and they need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.  Or, if they refuse to do so, continue to keep losing and never gain back moderate supporters like me ever again.

SoonMrsCrocker2 :  You do know that intelligent humans are capable of thinking about multiple issues and multiple facets of those issues, right? I’m not sure why you’re harping on the fact that we aren’t all dwelling on why Clinton lost. It’s a little odd since this  discussion is about our feelings about the inauguration of a president many of us find to be an execrable human being. It’s possible for a person to both examine where the Dems and Clinton went wrong with this campaign AND feel horrified at the tacit (and sometimes not tacit) acceptance of Trump’s racism, xenophobia, sexism, and lack of decorum. It’s possible for a person to look at ways to draw voters back to the Democratic Party AND wonder why people aren’t more outraged by Trump’s crappy cabinet appointments of unqualified men and women who don’t know the first thing about the jobs they’re up for.

Just because you seem fixated on this one issue doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t have a broader scope of thought. It just makes sense to discuss our concerns about Trump in a thread about our concerns about the inauguration of Trump. If you want to discuss where the Dems went wrong, I’m sure the intelligent Bees who have proven themselves to be well-informed and articulate on the subject of politics would also be able to discuss that in a separate thread. This just isn’t the place for that.
